Ghost of Yotei
Sucker Punch's 2025 follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima moves three centuries forward to 1603 Hokkaido and swaps a samurai for a mercenary. Atsu is hunting the six people who killed her family, and the structure follows from that: the targets can be pursued in any order, each is a separate investigation across the region around Mount Yotei, and the game does not gate them behind a fixed sequence. Combat drops the previous game's stance system for a weapon-based one - katana, odachi, dual blades, spear, and a matchlock - where the answer to an enemy is choosing the right weapon rather than switching stance mid-fight. The open world keeps Tsushima's restraint: wind for navigation, no cluttered map, and campfires where Atsu can be found sharpening or playing her shamisen. It is more overtly a revenge story than its predecessor and less about duty. The Kurosawa mode returns alongside filters honouring other directors, and it launched exclusive to PlayStation 5.
