Team Cherry's 2025 sequel spent six years as the most anticipated unreleased game on Steam, and it is not a gentle follow-up. Hornet is faster than the Knight and more fragile, with a needle that has longer reach, an air-dash used constantly, and a healing system tied to silk harvested from hits rather than a passive soul meter - so recovery requires being aggressive first. Pharloom is a larger kingdom than Hallownest and structured to be less forgiving: enemies hit harder from the opening area, bosses have tighter windows, and the map is deliberately awkward to fill in. Tools replace charms, occupying slots that are refilled at benches, which turns loadouts into a resource decision rather than a permanent build. It carries over the original's refusal to explain itself, its hand-drawn art and Christopher Larkin's score. It is considerably harder than Hollow Knight, which was the main talking point at release, and it was on Game Pass from day one.
