Pokemon TCG Pocket
Creatures' 2024 mobile release is not a port of the Pokemon Trading Card Game but a rebuild for phone-sized sessions. Decks are twenty cards rather than sixty, there are no separate energy cards - you generate one energy per turn from a zone - and a match takes about five minutes and is decided by three points rather than six prizes. That compression removes most of the paper game's setup problems and makes it playable in a queue. The other half of the design is collecting: two free packs a day, immersive cards that tilt with your phone's gyroscope into a diorama, and a binder that treats the whole thing as an album rather than a ladder. Trading was absent at launch and added later in a heavily restricted form, which remains the main community grievance. New expansions arrive roughly monthly. It made an enormous amount of money in its first months, and it is the most convincing digital adaptation the franchise has had.
