HAL Laboratory's Kirby and the World Beyond was announced at Nintendo's September 9 Direct for Nintendo Switch 2 in spring 2027. It is the first open-world game in the series, its reveal trailer ends with Kirby absorbing a giant crystal sword and cutting open the sky, and Nintendo confirmed the franchise turns 35 next year.
