Atlus has spent two years letting people assume Persona 6 would be a PlayStation-first release with a Nintendo version arriving whenever it arrived. On September 9, during Nintendo's Direct, that assumption stopped being safe: Persona 6 is officially coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
No gameplay, no date, but a platform
The segment was short and deliberately unrevealing. Atlus ran the existing reveal trailer - the green-tinted, rain-soaked teaser with the P6 logo, no characters, no combat - and appended a Switch 2 logo to it. There is still no release date, no window beyond the vague, and nothing resembling gameplay in the public record.
What Atlus did put in writing is a description of the pitch: Persona 6 brings the series' signature blend of heartfelt daily life and pulse-pounding supernatural adventure into a completely fresh, standalone story with a new cast. That is a restatement of what the series has always been rather than a hint about what is new, and it is worth reading as confirmation of one specific thing - Persona 6 is not a sequel to Persona 5, and the Phantom Thieves are not coming back.
Why the platform confirmation is the actual story
Mainline Persona has never launched day-one on Nintendo hardware. Persona 5 was a PlayStation exclusive for years before Royal went multiplatform in 2022. Persona 3 Reload and Persona 4 Golden arrived on Switch only after Atlus had worked through the rest of the market. The pattern has been consistent enough that a Switch 2 version of Persona 6 being confirmed before the game even has a date is a genuine break from it.
The commercial logic is not subtle. Atlus's back catalogue has performed unusually well on Nintendo hardware since the Switch era began, and Metaphor: ReFantazio is already dated for a Switch 2 Edition on November 12. Locking Persona 6 to the platform early removes the single most common question the game will face in every interview between now and launch.
Persona 4 Revival finally has a Nintendo date
The other half of the segment was more concrete. Persona 4 Revival - the full remake Atlus has been drip-feeding since its announcement - is coming to Switch 2 on May 20, 2027.

That date lands the remake well after the versions Atlus has already discussed, which is the more familiar Persona pattern: PlayStation, Xbox and PC first, Nintendo later. The gap is real, but it is a stated gap with a date attached rather than the open-ended silence Switch owners usually get.
Revival has been having a busy fortnight. At PAX West on September 7, Atlus revealed Kanji Tatsumi's new English voice - Daman Mills - and had him perform the role live on stage during the Atlus Presents panel, which is not a thing publishers normally do with a recast. The Switch 2 date follows two days later.
The Persona slate is now unusually crowded
Between the two announcements, Atlus now has a mainline entry with no date, a full remake with a May 2027 Nintendo date, and Metaphor: ReFantazio's Switch 2 Edition in November - all under one publisher, all on the same platform, inside roughly eighteen months.
The risk in that is obvious: Persona games are enormous time commitments, and three of them stacked this close together compete with each other more than with anything else on the calendar. The upside is that Atlus no longer has to explain, every single time, why the Nintendo version is missing.
