Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto says a Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter: World would mean remaking the game from scratch, because it runs on MT Framework rather than the RE Engine every Capcom Switch 2 port uses.
Capcom announced during the September 9 Nintendo Direct that the RE2 Deluxe Edition, RE3 and RE4 Gold Edition remakes are coming to Switch 2, digitally on October 16, 2026 and physically on January 29, 2027. They are native ports with the DLC bundled in, and their arrival makes every mainline Resident Evil game playable on the console.
In a post-reveal Q&A, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed Capcom will make some story changes to Resident Evil Veronica so it fits cleanly into the modern remake timeline - sitting just after RE2 and RE3 and leading into RE4 - with the acclaimed RE2 remake team developing the 2027 release.
