Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Shows Off at Summer Game Fest — Ubisoft's Anvil-Powered Remake Sails July 9 With Rebuilt Combat, Ray Tracing and New Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet Content

Ubisoft's Summer Game Fest trailer for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced shows in-engine cinematics and gameplay ahead of its July 9, 2026 launch, with the latest Anvil engine, ray tracing, rebuilt combat and new content for Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet.

Ubisoft brought one of its most requested remakes to Summer Game Fest, dropping a fresh trailer for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced that mixes in-engine cinematics with combat and sailing gameplay. The high-seas reimagining sets sail on July 9, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Resynced rebuilds 2013's beloved pirate adventure on the latest version of the Anvil engine, with Dolby Atmos and ray tracing in tow. The trailer's signature flourish is a stirring, Resynced rendition of the sea shanty “Leave Her Johnny” by Woodkid, underscoring just how much care Ubisoft is pouring into the presentation.

Rebuilt for 2026

Combat has been reworked for more dynamic encounters with a sharper emphasis on parries and takedowns, while stealth and parkour have been smoothed out for cleaner escapes and assassinations. Naval warfare — the heart of Black Flag — returns rebuilt for the new hardware, with Edward Kenway's Jackdaw once again cutting across a gorgeous Caribbean.

New stories on the horizon

Crucially, this is more than a fresh coat of paint. Ubisoft confirmed exclusive new content, including fresh storylines dedicated to fan-favorite figures such as Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet. With a locked July 9 date and a clear technical leap on show, Black Flag Resynced is shaping up to be one of the summer's marquee releases.
