Microsoft has published the first half of its October Game Pass lineup, and the headline is Battlefield 6. EA's shooter joins Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on October 13, almost exactly a year after it launched, and it lands on the same day as One More Level's Valor Mortis, which arrives in the catalog at launch. The less welcome news is at the other end of the list: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and eight other games leave the service on October 15.
Battlefield 6 arrives on October 13
Battlefield 6 first released on October 10, 2025, on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. From October 13 it is part of Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and Xbox lists it for cloud streaming as well as Xbox Series X|S and PC. Xbox's own pitch for it is the series' familiar mix of all-out warfare, fast close-quarters fights and tactical destruction, which for most players means large-scale Conquest maps, vehicles and buildings that come apart under fire.
The timing is notable. Battlefield 6 has spent its first year as a full-price release and has been running a steady cadence of seasonal updates since launch. Adding it to Game Pass a year in gives the multiplayer population a fresh intake right as the series heads into its second year, and right as the autumn shooter calendar fills up with Modern Warfare 4 later this month.
Note the tiers: Battlefield 6 is listed for Ultimate and PC Game Pass only. Subscribers on the cheaper Premium tier will not see it on day one.

Valor Mortis launches straight into the catalog
Also arriving October 13 is Valor Mortis, the first-person soulslike from One More Level, the studio behind Ghostrunner. Its Steam page still lists it as coming soon with an October 13 release date, so Game Pass subscribers on Ultimate and PC Game Pass get it the day it launches. It is also one of the few games in this wave that Xbox tags for handheld play.
The setup casts you as a former soldier of Napoleon's army brought back from death. You fight with blades, firearms and supernatural powers against monsters, while uncovering a conspiracy that the game frames as a threat to all of humanity. For a studio known for one-hit-kill speedrunning, a slower, stamina-driven soulslike is a clear change of pace.

The rest of the wave
The other additions are smaller, but there is a fair spread of genres across the next nine days:
- October 8: Echo Weaver, a knowledge-based metroidvania built around an unravelling time loop (Ultimate, PC Game Pass); Forever Ago, a road-trip adventure that follows Alfred north in search of redemption (Ultimate, PC Game Pass); and Neon Abyss 2, a roguelike platformer in a pixel-art cyberpunk world, which is also on the Premium tier.
- October 13: Battlefield 6 and Valor Mortis, plus Deep Dish Dungeon, a survival exploration game with metroidvania and crafting elements.
- October 15: Bluey's Happy Snaps, a photo-taking adventure through Bluey's world and its Australian wildlife, and Chained Beasts, a one-to-four-player co-op gladiator roguelike.
- October 16: Beyond These Stars, a PC city-builder set on the back of a space whale, with supply chains and alien encounters to manage.
Xbox also points out that Gears of War: E-Day, Minecraft Dungeons II and Shape of Dreams are already available on the service. Asphalt Legends players can claim a Ford GT MKII, 250 tokens and 250,000 credits as a member perk.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 leaves October 15
The biggest departure is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Sandfall Interactive's turn-based RPG launched on Game Pass on day one in April 2025 and became one of the service's defining releases of that year, so its exit will catch a lot of subscribers mid-playthrough. If you are partway through the expedition against the Paintress, you have until October 15. After that you will need to buy the game to keep playing, and your save carries over if you do.

It is not leaving alone. The full list of games departing on October 15 is:
- A Plague Tale: Requiem
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
- Crime Scene Cleaner
- Donut County
- Evil West
- Nova Roma (Game Preview)
- Pacific Drive
- Superball
- The Casting of Frank Stone
A Plague Tale: Requiem and Pacific Drive are the other two worth finishing this week. As usual, games leaving the catalog are discounted for members while they are still listed, so this is the cheapest point to buy any of them.
What to play first
If you only have room for one new download, it depends what you want. Battlefield 6 is the obvious draw for anyone who skipped it at full price last year. Valor Mortis is the one to watch if you want something brand new on launch day. And if Expedition 33 has been sitting unfinished in your library, the next eight days are your deadline. Microsoft usually announces the second half of the month's lineup in about two weeks.
