Deltarune Chapter 5 has a release date: Wednesday, June 24, 2026, arriving worldwide at 11:00am EDT. Best of all, it lands as a free update for everyone who already owns the paid version of Toby Fox's RPG.
The new chapter was revealed during the June 9 Nintendo Direct, continuing the story of Kris, Susie and Ralsei as they journey to seal the Dark Fountains. It releases across Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, PC and Mac on the same day, and will be bundled into all paid copies of Deltarune purchased after launch.
Free updates have been the plan all along. Toby Fox has been consistent that he only feels right charging for content that already exists - not for what he promises will come later - which is why Chapters 3 and 4 launched as a paid bundle, with subsequent chapters arriving to owners at no extra cost. Chapter 5 is the first to deliver on that promise.

The trailer kept story specifics vague by design; Fox has said he prefers to let players experience new chapters fresh. But the reveal ended with a tantalising tease - a single line reading Chapter 6 is waiting - confirming the next installment is already in the pipeline.
Encouragingly, Fox also noted that Chapter 6 is proving easier to make than the others and that development is moving quickly, with the team potentially able to begin work on Chapter 7 before the end of 2026. After the long waits between earlier chapters, that is a welcome sign for a fanbase that has followed Deltarune since its surprise 2018 debut.

If you have not jumped in yet, the free Chapters 1 and 2 demo remains available, while the paid version unlocks everything released so far - and, come June 24, Chapter 5 at no additional charge.
