Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2's 10th Anniversary Update Lands October 27, and Its Final Festival Unlocks Xenoverse 3 Rewards

Bandai Namco's free 10th anniversary update for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 arrives October 27, followed on October 30 by the Final Festival of Universes, with 25x Star Coins, returning rare items and a Gi and medal that unlock rewards in Xenoverse 3.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2's 10th Anniversary Update Lands October 27, and Its Final Festival Unlocks Xenoverse 3 Rewards

Ten years after it first landed in October 2016, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is getting one last party. Bandai Namco and developer Dimps have confirmed a free 10th anniversary update for October 27, followed on October 30 by the Final Festival of Universes, a global in-game event that brings back hard-to-find items, multiplies Star Coin earnings by 25 and hands out two items that will unlock rewards in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 when it arrives in 2027. If you still have a Time Patroller saved somewhere, this is the week to dust them off.

What the free October 27 update adds

The patch itself is the smaller half of the celebration. According to Bandai Namco, it brings a new set of Login Bonus Rewards and a batch of Special Costumes, both available to every player at no cost. It also expands the Gallery of Time, the feature that arrived with FUTURE SAGA Chapter 4, the final paid DLC chapter released this July. The new Gallery of Time content is tied to that DLC, so players who have not bought Chapter 4 will get the login bonuses and costumes but not the gallery additions.

Bandai Namco has not published full patch notes yet, so the exact costume list and the size of the download are still unknown. Expect the update to roll out on all six platforms the game is on: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch and PC via Steam.

Conton City, the hub where Xenoverse 2 players have gathered for a decade, is where the Final Festival of Universes plays out.

The Final Festival of Universes starts October 30

The bigger draw is the event that follows three days later. The Final Festival of Universes is framed as a send-off for the game's community, and it centres on three characters who have been at the heart of the Xenoverse 2 story: Future Trunks, the Supreme Kai of Time and Fu. During the festival, you pick one of the three and raise your camaraderie level with them. Doing so unlocks special illustrations of that character.

Alongside that, Bandai Namco says hard-to-obtain items will return to circulation for the duration of the event. For long-time players who missed limited rewards from earlier events, that is likely the main reason to log in. The other headline number is a 25x boost to Star Coin earnings, which makes it far quicker than usual to exchange coins for whatever rewards you are after. Bandai Namco has not said when the festival ends, so if there is something specific you want, it is safer not to leave it until the final days.

How the festival carries over to Xenoverse 3

This is the part that makes the event more than a nostalgia lap. Taking part in the Final Festival can earn you a new Gi made specifically for the occasion, plus a commemorative medal. Holding either item will unlock special items in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, with the reward depending on which of the two you own. To claim them, you link your Bandai Namco ID once Xenoverse 3 is out in 2027.

Bandai Namco has not yet detailed what the Xenoverse 3 rewards actually are, or whether owning both the Gi and the medal stacks. What is clear is that the link runs through your Bandai Namco ID rather than a save transfer, so it is worth making sure the account you play Xenoverse 2 on is connected to one before the festival starts.

Why this matters: a long goodbye before Xenoverse 3

Xenoverse 2 has had an unusually long life for a licensed fighting game. It launched on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2016, came to Switch the following year, and later picked up native PS5 and Xbox Series versions. Along the way it collected years of paid character packs and free updates, then a four-part FUTURE SAGA story that wrapped up this summer with Chapter 4, which added the Supreme Kai of Time and Goku in their Ultra Supervillain forms and the Ultra Time Patrol Battles.

With FUTURE SAGA finished and Xenoverse 3 confirmed for 2027, the Final Festival of Universes reads as a deliberate bridge between the two games. Xenoverse 3 moves the series to a new West City hub set in AGE 1000, adds a sixth avatar race in the Android, and introduces a Mentor system built around summoning characters with MistyPix and growing your bond with them. Rewarding the players who stuck with Xenoverse 2 for a decade with items that follow them into the sequel is a sensible way to keep that audience together.
