DuneCrawl, Alientrap's co-op adventure about sailing a desert on the back of a giant cannon-armed crab, is leaving PC. The studio has confirmed that the game arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Android on October 19, two weeks from today, with Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Switch to follow later in 2026. It has been on Steam since January 5, so the October launch puts a nine-month-old indie in front of console players and, more unusually, phone owners at the same time.
What's launching, and when
The October 19 date covers three platforms at once: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Android. The two Nintendo versions don't have a date yet beyond "later in 2026", which leaves Alientrap less than three months to ship them if that window holds. iOS isn't part of the announcement in any form, so for now the mobile release is Android only.
Alientrap hasn't announced prices for the new versions. The Steam release sells for $9.99, which makes it one of the cheaper four-player co-op games around, and a similar price on the new platforms would be the natural expectation, but nothing official says so yet. The studio also hasn't said whether crossplay will link the new versions to the PC game. That matters more than usual here, because co-op is the whole point of DuneCrawl.

A pirate game where the ship has legs
If you missed it on PC, DuneCrawl is an open-world action game played from a top-down view. Up to four players share one Dune Crawler, a huge crab with a fort on its back, and steer it across a sea of sand between oasis islands. It plays a lot like a pirate game: one player takes the helm while the others load cannonballs, repair damaged legs, or launch themselves from a cannon to board an enemy crawler. Playing alone is supported too, with a ghostly companion standing in for the missing crew.
The story casts the crew as Polloi pilgrims fighting off the Ceramicist, whose army of jar-headed Vassals is spreading across the desert. Islands hide quests, loot and dungeons. Masks, Tunics and Talismans give your character new abilities, and the crawler itself can be fitted with spiked leg armour, guided torpedoes, weapons like the Buzzooka and the Acid Harpoon, or simply a new paint job and hat.

What changed on PC since January
The console and Android versions are not the same game that launched in January. Alientrap has kept updating the Steam release, and the biggest change came in March with Sandstorm, a battle royale mode that drops up to 16 players and bots into the open world to loot, grab crawlers and beetles, and outrun closing sandstorms. Sandstorm works online, in local co-op or solo against bots, though matches still run on player-hosted servers. The studio has said dedicated servers and better matchmaking are planned as the mode grows. The same update added named save slots, a way to dock a steed underneath your crawler so it survives the whole campaign, and German and Polish text.
The more telling patches came over the summer. Version 1.12 in August was billed as a large CPU and physics optimization pass, made as the team prepared for other platforms. It added graphics quality presets, a render-scale slider and an advanced video menu, which is the kind of work that makes an unannounced Android port plausible in hindsight. Version 1.13 in September trimmed memory use further and added a toggle-sprint option and a 45fps frame-rate cap. That is a useful middle ground for handhelds and phones that can't hold 60fps but look rough at 30.

Why the Android version stands out
A co-op indie moving to PS5 and Xbox is routine. Moving to Android on the same day, rather than months afterwards as a separate port, is less common, and it fits DuneCrawl better than most. Its top-down camera, chunky art and short island-to-island loop already feel built for a handheld screen, and the frame-rate and render-scale options added this year give lower-end hardware room to cope. The open questions are controls and multiplayer: whether Android supports touch input or expects a controller, and whether phone players can join console or PC crews. Alientrap hasn't answered either yet.
What's still unconfirmed
Alongside prices and crossplay, Alientrap still has to confirm whether PC saves carry over to the new platforms and whether Sandstorm ships in every version on day one. Those details usually land in the final week before release, along with store pages. For now, the firm facts are the October 19 date for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Android, and the Switch 2 and Switch versions later this year. PC players can keep crawling on Steam in the meantime.
