Bandai Namco brought out the big mech at Summer Game Fest 2026. GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT is a brand-new, high-octane third-person action game developed by Bandai Namco Studios, and its announcement trailer offered a first look at an original chapter in the long-running Gundam saga.
Rather than tying into an existing timeline, Rogue Orbit introduces a fresh sci-fi setting where humanity is fighting for survival against an unknown threat. You step into the cockpit as ace pilot RE-X, commanding the high-mobility Gundam Helix alongside a rag-tag crew of unsung soldiers cast as humanity’s last hope.
The trailer leans hard into spectacle: fast-paced, free-flowing battles across sprawling environments, swarms of enemies, and gigantic bosses — including an eye-catching clash between the Helix and a colossal mechanical dragon. It is exactly the kind of explosive mobility action fans have wanted from a modern Gundam title.
GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT is slated to launch in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. After years of Gundam games leaning on multiplayer and licensed rosters, a story-driven, single-pilot action title with a new protagonist and an original suit is a genuinely exciting swerve.
