The Dark Knight has never had a LEGO adventure quite this big. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, and developer TT Games has used it to mount its most ambitious brick-built take on Gotham yet — a sprawling, open-world love letter to more than 86 years of the Caped Crusader.
Rather than retell a single film, the game traces Batman’s journey “from origin to legend,” pulling story beats, characters and gadgets from across the comics, classic TV, animation and the movies. The result is a greatest-hits tour of Batman lore filtered through TT Games’ trademark slapstick humor.
At the heart of it all is an explorable open-world Gotham City and a fully realized Batcave hub, where players can swap suits, upgrade gear and launch into missions. The roster of playable heroes and villains is enormous, spanning the entire rogues’ gallery from the Joker and Penguin to deeper cuts only longtime fans will recognize.
Every era of Batman, in brick form
The campaign gleefully bounces between tones, paying tribute to the campy 1960s show, the gothic animated series and the blockbuster films alike. It is the kind of fan-service buffet the LEGO games do best, stuffed with cameos, Easter eggs and the studio’s signature physical-comedy cutscenes.
A family-friendly Gotham
As ever, the appeal stretches well beyond hardcore Batman fans. Drop-in co-op makes it an easy pick for couch play, the humor keeps things light for younger players, and the sheer volume of unlockables gives completionists a reason to keep prowling the rooftops. Published by Warner Bros. Games, Legacy of the Dark Knight is available now.
