Sony Reveals the Marvel's Wolverine Limited Edition PS5 - Battle Yellow Bundle Is $649.99, Pre-Orders Open August 19

Sony has pulled the covers off the hardware tie-in for its biggest remaining 2026 exclusive. On Tuesday, August 11, PlayStation revealed the Marvel's Wolverine Limited Edition range — a PS5 Digital Edition console bundle, a standalone DualSense controller, and two separate sets of console covers — all built around artwork by comics illustrator Jock.

Pre-orders open on August 19 at 10:00 AM local time, and stock arrives September 15 in limited quantities. That date is not a coincidence: September 15 is also the day Marvel's Wolverine itself launches on PS5.

What you actually get

The headline item is the PS5 Digital Edition – Marvel's Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle at $649.99 US. That includes the console in the Battle Yellow finish, a matching DualSense wireless controller, and a code for the game itself.

If you already own a PS5, the pieces are available separately. The DualSense Wireless Controller – Marvel's Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition is $84.99 and sold globally on its own. Console covers run $74.99 and fit both the PS5 slim and the PS5 Pro. There is also a second, more restrained colourway: a metallic Adamantium cover set, which is PS5 Pro only.

The Jock connection

The design is the interesting part. Rather than lifting a render out of the game, Sony built the whole range around a hand-drawn illustration by Jock — the artist behind runs on Wolverine, Batman and The Losers, and a designer on films including Annihilation. His snarling, ink-heavy Logan wraps the top panel of the console, with black brushstroke claw marks tearing diagonally across the yellow below and exposing the hardware beneath.

"I'm stunned by how well the console and accessories captured the raw energy of the drawing," Jock said of the result, describing the range as a marriage of cutting-edge hardware and hand-drawn illustration.

Insomniac's Marcus Smith framed the choice in terms of the character rather than the product: "Jock's illustrations are grounded and raw and perfectly personify Wolverine." It is a noticeably different approach to Sony's recent limited editions, which have tended toward in-engine key art and clean geometric motifs.

Battle Yellow versus Adamantium

The two finishes are aimed at fairly different buyers. Battle Yellow is loud — it is drawn directly from Insomniac's Battle Reborn suit, and it commits fully to the colour that Wolverine's costume has worn on the page for fifty years and almost never on screen. The Adamantium set swaps the yellow for a metallic silver-white, keeps the same Jock artwork in black, and is the option for anyone who wants the reference without the highlighter.

One month out

Marvel's Wolverine has been building steadily since its gameplay reveal at a State of Play in June, followed by a story trailer and a prequel comic at San Diego Comic-Con in July. Hardware is usually the last piece Sony puts on the table before a launch, and it lands here with just over a month to go.

"Limited quantities" is doing real work in that sentence, though. Sony's recent limited-edition consoles — the 30th Anniversary run in particular — sold out in minutes and moved straight to resale listings at multiples of retail. If you want the Battle Yellow bundle at $649.99 rather than whatever the aftermarket decides it is worth, August 19 at 10:00 AM is the only date that matters.
