Steam Next Fest is packed with thousands of demos, but one dark-fantasy extraction game has clawed its way to the front of the pack. Mistfall Hunter, the debut title from Bellring Games (published by Skystone Games), crossed more than 10,000 concurrent players on Steam within hours of its open beta going live — making it one of the breakout names of the June 2026 showcase.
The open beta runs from June 14 through June 22, 2026 across PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, and it's free for everyone, no Game Pass or PS Plus required. It's the broadest public test yet for a game that has been quietly building momentum through PAX and TGS appearances over the past year.

Extraction, but make it soulslike
Mistfall Hunter is set in Weavereach, a shattered world where the gods have died and a creeping curse called the Gyldenmist swallows the land. You drop into mist-choked maps to scavenge loot, fight other hunters and monstrous bosses, and then race to extract before the fog — and rival players — close in. It blends the high-stakes risk/reward loop of extraction shooters with deliberate, stamina-driven third-person melee combat that owes an obvious debt to FromSoftware.
This build introduces the newly playable Withered Knight class, debuts the Hallowgrove map, and gives players their first crack at the Mist Lord boss Sálmar, the Cursed Moonwane. Bellring has leaned hard into its ‘Mistfall Journal’ dev-update series, detailing everything from directional audio to legendary equipment as it courts feedback ahead of launch.

What's next
The full release is set for July 29, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PC — available day one with Xbox Game Pass — with a PlayStation 5 version in the mix as well. If the open beta's numbers are anything to go by, the Gyldenmist is going to be crowded.
The beta closes June 22 at 10:00 UTC, so there's a narrow window left to test the waters before the servers go dark ahead of launch.
