The Sims 4 Marketplace Arrives on Console — Community-Created Content Finally Reaches PlayStation and Xbox

The Sims 4 Marketplace is now live on PlayStation and Xbox, bringing community-created Maker Packs and Kits to console for the first time, with a free Country Kitchen Kit available until May 29.

The Sims 4 Marketplace Arrives on Console — Community-Created Content Finally Reaches PlayStation and Xbox

Console players have been asking for it, and EA has finally delivered. As of April 16, The Sims 4 Marketplace is live on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, bringing the same community-created content ecosystem that PC players have been enjoying since March directly to the living room. It is one of the biggest updates The Sims 4 has received in recent memory, and it fundamentally changes how console players interact with the game.

The Marketplace, for those unfamiliar, is an in-game storefront where players can browse, purchase, and download Maker Packs and Kits created by community members through The Sims Maker Program. These are not mods in the traditional sense. They are curated, quality-checked content packs that range from furniture sets and clothing collections to entire themed kits, all purchasable with a virtual currency called Moola. Packs install directly within the game, requiring no restart, no file management, and no technical knowledge.

For console players, this is a significant shift. Historically, The Sims on PlayStation and Xbox has been a more limited experience compared to the PC version. Custom content, one of the pillars of the franchise's longevity, was effectively off-limits. The Marketplace changes that equation entirely. Console players can now access the same creative output that has kept the PC community engaged for years, and they can do it without ever leaving the game interface.

Storage allocations vary by platform. PlayStation 4 and 5 players get 16GB of Marketplace storage, while Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Cloud players have access to up to 50GB. These limits are separate from the base game's install size, so players will not need to worry about Marketplace downloads eating into their existing content.

The Sims 4 character customization and build mode

The launch comes with a notable trade-off that has sparked debate within the community. EA has confirmed that individual Kits will no longer be sold through the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store. Instead, all Kit purchases will be routed through the in-game Marketplace using Moola. Expansion Packs, Game Packs, and Stuff Packs remain available through platform stores, but the shift toward an in-game economy for smaller content has raised questions about pricing transparency and long-term direction.

To sweeten the deal, EA is offering The Sims 4 Country Kitchen Kit as a free download through the Marketplace until May 29, 2026. It is a smart move to get players into the storefront and familiar with the interface, and the kit itself is one of the more popular options among PC players who have already had access.

New Maker Packs are set to drop weekly, giving the Marketplace a steady content cadence that should keep players checking back regularly. Each purchase directly supports the creators involved, a detail EA has been keen to highlight as a differentiator from the traditional DLC model.

The Sims 4 neighborhood and community features

The April 16 update also includes a range of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements across all platforms. Patch 1.123.66.1030 addresses several long-standing issues, including fixes for build mode snapping, Sim behavior in social situations, and career progression bugs that had been reported since the last major update.

Whether the Marketplace becomes a true game-changer for console players or simply another storefront will depend on the quality and variety of Maker content in the months ahead. The infrastructure is solid, the onboarding is smooth, and the free Country Kitchen Kit is a nice touch. For now, it is a welcome addition that narrows the gap between The Sims 4 on console and its PC counterpart in a meaningful way.
