One of the most beloved indie games of the decade is about to land on Nintendo's newest hardware. Stray, BlueTwelve Studio's atmospheric cyber-cat adventure, pounces onto Nintendo Switch 2 tomorrow, May 28, priced at $29.99 on the eShop.
This is not a straight port. The Switch 2 edition is a genuine technical step up, running at 4K with an improved frame rate and, crucially, support for the Joy-Con 2's new mouse controls.
4K, smoother and built for the new hardware
Annapurna and BlueTwelve are leaning into what the new console can do. Alongside the bump to 4K and the steadier frame rate, the headline addition is mouse control via the Joy-Con 2 - a much-requested option that should make navigating menus and aiming B-12's abilities feel sharper. Existing owners are looked after too: the Switch 2 version arrives as a free upgrade for anyone who already owns Stray on the original Switch.

A cat, a drone and a forgotten city
For the uninitiated, Stray casts you as a lone stray cat that tumbles into a sealed underground city populated entirely by robots. With a small drone companion named B-12, you prowl, leap and squeeze through a decaying cyberpunk world, solving environmental puzzles and slowly untangling the mystery of how the city came to be. Since its 2022 debut it has earned a devoted following and a shelf of award nominations for its world-building and unmistakably feline movement.

Stray is also the leading edge of a wider Annapurna push onto Switch 2 this year. The publisher's lineup continues with To a T on June 11 and the cosy, critically adored Wanderstop on June 23.
Stray launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on May 28 for $29.99, with a free upgrade for current Switch owners.
