THQ Nordic's Showcase Teased a Road 96 Sequel, Dropped Expeditions: Samurai Into Early Access, and Dated Three More Games

DigixArt is making a new game in the Road 96 universe, Expeditions: Samurai launched into Early Access at $29.99, Titan Quest II got Spirit Mastery, and Way of the Hunter 2, Serious Sam: Shatterverse and the Gothic Classic ports all got dates.

THQ Nordic's Showcase Teased a Road 96 Sequel, Dropped Expeditions: Samurai Into Early Access, and Dated Three More Games

THQ Nordic ran its annual digital showcase on August 7, and it did the thing that makes these publisher streams worth watching: it shipped things. Not "coming 2027" placeholders - an Early Access launch that went live during the broadcast, a DLC available the moment the stream ended, a mastery update already downloadable, and three firm release dates. There was also a teaser that, if you have been paying attention to DigixArt for the last five years, was the loudest thing in the show.

A Road 96 sequel is happening

THQ Nordic closed one segment with an unannounced project from DigixArt and confirmed only that it is set in the Road 96 universe. The teaser is short, deliberately vague, and ends on the line "Get Back on the Road." That is the entire announcement. No title, no window, no platforms.

It is still a big deal. Road 96 was a genuine 2021 sleeper - a procedurally assembled hitchhiking narrative about teenagers fleeing an authoritarian regime, built out of vignettes that reshuffled every run - and its prequel Road 96: Mile 0 in 2023 was a smaller, more musical experiment. A proper return to that world is the kind of thing DigixArt's audience has been asking for loudly enough that the studio clearly knew a five-second tease would do the job.

Expeditions: Samurai went straight into Early Access

The showcase's biggest playable-right-now moment was Expeditions: Samurai, which launched into Steam Early Access on August 7 at $29.99 with a 34% launch discount running through August 14. It moves Logic Artists' long-running historical CRPG series - previously Conquistador, Viking and Rome - to feudal Japan, keeping the formula of a travelling company, tactical turn-based combat and a campaign map where supplies and morale matter as much as swords.

Early Access is the right call for a series this systems-heavy, and the price undercuts most of what else is arriving this month.

Titan Quest II gets Spirit Mastery

Titan Quest II's Spirit Mastery and Crafting update went live during the broadcast. Spirit is the summoner-and-caster archetype the original Titan Quest players have been waiting on since the sequel entered Early Access, and pairing it with a crafting overhaul in the same patch suggests the game is starting to fill out its build space rather than just adding content. It is available now on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

REANIMAL's first DLC, and a Goldman trailer

Tarsier Studios' co-op horror game REANIMAL received The Prisoner, the first of three planned expansions, released the same day on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. It introduces two new characters - the Soldier and the Prisoner - in a war-scarred stretch of the game's world.

The Eternal Life of Goldman, the hand-drawn platformer starring an elderly man with a cane, got a new trailer titled "What Would I Draw?" and confirmation that it will be on Xbox Game Pass day one, alongside PC, Switch and PS5 releases. It remains one of the best-looking things in THQ Nordic's lineup and one of the hardest to describe to anyone who has not seen it move.

The dates

Three launches got locked down. Way of the Hunter 2 leaves Early Access for a full 1.0 release on September 29 across PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, adding African hunting grounds to its North American ones. Serious Sam: Shatterverse lands August 31. And the Gothic Classic console ports continue on a staggered schedule: Gothic Classic is out now at $29.99, Gothic II Complete Classic follows September 29, and Gothic III Classic arrives November 24 - the only one of the three coming to Switch 2.

Everything else

Wreckfest 2 showed new vehicles, tracks and modes including Suicide Races and Waypoint Races, with a console release still unannounced. The Guild - Europa 1410 was revealed as a new medieval business-and-dynasty simulation. Call to Arms: Panzer Elite added the M18 Hellcat and M24 Chaffee plus two campaign missions. Let's Sing 2027 and Let's Sing ABBA both land November 3. And Gothic - A Shadow's Quest, a board game for up to four players, opens its Gamefound campaign on September 30.

THQ Nordic also dropped a number worth sitting with: 29 games currently in development, 12 of them still unannounced. The publisher's annual Showcase Sale is live across Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo storefronts, running through August 14 on Steam, with discounts on REANIMAL, Titan Quest II, Wreckfest 2, Darksiders, SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide and the Gothic 1 Remake.
