VR hunters have a new patch of wilderness to roam. Virtual Hunter, the realistic hunting simulator from developer Korpi Games and publisher VRKiwi, launches on PlayStation VR2 and Meta Quest today, May 27, bringing its sprawling open-world hunting grounds to console VR for the first time.
The console release follows a stint as a PC VR favourite and a short delay from its original late-March target - time the team says went into polishing the platform-specific VR features.
64 square kilometres of wilderness
Virtual Hunter pitches itself as the most realistic hunting sim in VR, dropping players into a massive 64-square-kilometre open world where red deer, fallow deer, wild boar, European hare and more roam with authentic, reactive behaviour. You can head out solo or team up with up to five other hunters - six players in total - to hike, track and strategise your way to the biggest trophy.

Built for the hardware
Both console versions are tailored to their platforms. On PS VR2, the game leans on the headset's haptics to convey nearby terrain and obstacles and uses the adaptive triggers for more tactile, realistic weapon handling and firing. The Meta Quest version focuses on optimisation and polish, promising large environments with dense foliage, long render distances and cross-play multiplayer with voice chat.

Virtual Hunter is available now on PlayStation VR2 and Meta Quest for $24.99 (or regional equivalent), alongside the existing PC VR edition that first hit Steam Early Access in 2021 before its full release in early 2025.
