Zenless Zone Zero's next update finally takes the story up to the sky. HoYoverse has dated Version 3.3, "Journey to the Sky", for October 21. It brings two new S-Rank Agents, Phoenix and Severian, a story chapter set on the floating island of Roscaelifer, and a brand-new way to fight: Proxies can now climb into combat mechs and pilot them. The update arrives at the same time on iOS, Android, PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, and your progress carries across all of them as before.
Two new S-Rank Agents
Phoenix leads the first half of the update. She is a Fire Anomaly Agent with a forgiving kit. Her Core Skill, "Nirvana", lets later Anomaly damage on an already-afflicted enemy land as a critical hit, which pushes her toward the burst-heavy Anomaly teams many players already run. She also gets a built-in second life: Rebirth revives her on the spot at full health the first time she would otherwise go down. Her signature W-Engine is Plume of Rebirth.
Severian takes over in the second half. He is a Wind Attack Agent built around counterplay. His Core Skill, Endless Breeze, has him dodge an incoming attack automatically and strike back. Successful dodges and certain skill hits build Energy, which he spends on stronger strings of continuous slashes. His signature W-Engine is Incarcerating Grip.
The reruns are split the same way. Velina and her W-Engine Joyau Dore return alongside Phoenix, and Norma and Chief Sidekick return alongside Severian. If you missed either of them the first time round, this is the window.

The story heads to Roscaelifer
The main story moves to the sky island of Roscaelifer, where the conflict that has been building over recent chapters comes to a head. Traffic to Booastrum is locked down, and the only way in is through Quietude Isle, an occupied skyport. That forces two Agents who do not trust each other, Judge Phoenix and Commissioner Severian, to travel together, and the chapter turns on whether they can work as a team.
The Proxy arrives on the island with Lindverne, and the plot moves closer to the truth about the three Sunbringers and their Karma Cores, the thread HoYoverse has been teasing since the current arc began.
Mech combat arrives, and it is here to stay
The headline gameplay addition is piloted mechs. Lindverne uses her Karma Core power, Genesis Reconstruction, to build High Ambitions Corp combat mechs that the Proxy can drive. They switch between melee and ranged modes, and an EX Special Attack or a well-timed dodge charges a stronger laser attack. The mechs can also interact with the stage: you can shoot explosives or hurl heavy objects, both to clear fights and to solve puzzles.
HoYoverse says mech combat is not a one-off for this chapter and will carry on into future versions. That makes 3.3 the first look at a system the game plans to build on.
A Halloween-flavoured event lineup
October timing shows in the events. The main one, "Night of Supernatural Tricks", is run by the businesses of Lumina Square. You drive a Trickmobile and scare guests through a funhouse, and the rewards include the Angels of Delusion outfit, an A-Rank W-Engine and Proxy accessories. A companion VR game from the HIA Club, "Spooky Funhouse Tales", ties into it.
Around that, "Cyber Miracle Healer, on Duty!" has you repairing Bangboo knocked out by "toxic" chips. "Trails of the Hobbling Crow" is a hunt for whoever attacked Crowe. "Repair! Drifting Art" asks you to piece together painting fragments lost at sea. Double drops return for Area Patrol and Combat Simulation, and the check-in event pays out 10 Encrypted Master Tapes and 10 Boopons.
The permanent Hollow mode, Enigma of the Labyrinth, also gets a seasonal layer called "Spooky Trial". A Devilboo instructor named Master Devil sets a three-round challenge that gets harder each round. The Candle Cores you earn can be sold to whichever shop pays most, comparing offers from shops run by friends or Outpost group members.
Outfits and quality-of-life changes
Phoenix launches with two outfits sold together as a bundle, at a 30% discount for a limited time. Severian's everyday uniform, Solemnly Impeccable, goes on sale when his banner opens in the second half. Both Agents also get avatars, dynamic wallpapers and trust events. A new sidebar theme and pendant can be claimed through the in-game New Eridu City Fund.
The quality-of-life changes are aimed at players who struggle with team building. Fairy can now suggest lineups, strategies and briefings based on the Agents you actually own, and you can save a suggested lineup to a preset in one tap. Some Agents get their own tutorial videos. In certain permanent combat modes, Squad Configuration now shows tips based on your squad size, upgrade progress and team synergy, with a shortcut to the relevant guide. Inter-Knot Reputation rewards are also laid out more clearly.
When to play
Version 3.3 goes live on October 21 on every platform, with the usual maintenance window first. Phoenix's banner opens with the update and Severian follows in the second phase. If you are saving pulls, decide now: a Fire Anomaly DPS with a free revive, or a Wind attacker who counters for you.
