Com2uS Holdings has launched ARES: The Iron Vanguard worldwide. The action RPG, developed by Second Dive, went live on Tuesday across North America, Europe and Southeast Asia on the App Store and Google Play - and, unusually for a game of this shape, on PC with cross-play from day one.
The hook the marketing keeps returning to is the Suit Change system. You carry two combat suits at once and swap between them mid-fight, in real time, with no menu and no cooldown wall. Each suit brings its own weapon and skill set, which means a build is defined less by the class you picked at character creation than by the pair you decided to run together.
Four classes, mixed and matched
The launch roster runs to four. The Engineer fights with heavy gauntlets and calls in drone assaults. The Warlock throws area-of-effect magic powered by cosmic energy. The Warlord takes the front line with a rocket-hammer and a shield. The Hunter works close and fast with dual blades. Because the suit system is the progression system, the game explicitly supports multi-class loadouts - pairing an Engineer suit with a Hunter suit is a supported build, not an exploit.
Traversal and set-piece tools sit on top of that: a hoverboard for crossing the open battlefields, a pilotable mech called the Goliath, and the Valkyrie for air superiority. The combat itself is pitched on parries, perfect dodges and combo timing rather than auto-battle, which is the line every premium Korean mobile action RPG draws and not all of them hold.
Single-player first, co-op later
The structural choice worth flagging is how the global version sequences its content. Progression is built around single-player story and combat, with co-operative PvE - raids, strike missions, endgame bosses - unlocking as your character grows rather than gating the early game behind matchmaking. For a free-to-play launch that is a deliberate bet: the opening hours have to carry themselves on the strength of the combat alone.
The setting is standard-issue but serviceable. You are a Guardian, the solar system is under threat from something called Nemesis, and the campaign pushes outward from there across a series of open battlefields.
Six countries got it first
This is not a cold launch. Com2uS Holdings ran an early regional release from August across six markets - Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil, Canada, Australia and New Zealand - and folded the feedback from that period back into the build that shipped globally. That soft-launch window is the reason the app arrived at version 1.3.3 on day one rather than 1.0.
ARES: The Iron Vanguard is free to play, rated 12+, and localised into thirteen languages including English, Japanese, Korean, simplified and traditional Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese and Turkish. Launch events and login rewards are running now. It requires iOS 15.0 or later on iPhone, and is available on Android through Google Play.
