Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Plunders 3 Million Sales in a Week - Ubisoft's Pirate Remake Is a Bona Fide Hit

Ubisoft's remake of the beloved 2013 pirate adventure is a runaway success: 2 million copies sold on day one, more than 3 million in its first week, a record concurrent-player peak on Steam, and the best reviews an Assassin's Creed has earned since the original Black Flag.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Plunders 3 Million Sales in a Week - Ubisoft's Pirate Remake Is a Bona Fide Hit

Raise the black flag - Ubisoft has a genuine hit on its hands. Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, the ground-up remake of 2013's fan-favorite pirate adventure, has sold more than 3 million copies in its first week, Ubisoft confirmed in a July 17 announcement. That follows a 2 million-copy opening day after the game's July 9 launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S - and it makes Resynced one of the strongest Assassin's Creed launches in years.

Record-Breaking Numbers

The launch broke records on multiple fronts. On Steam, Resynced peaked at 99,451 concurrent players within 24 hours - the highest concurrent player count ever recorded for an Assassin's Creed title on the platform. It also claimed the number one spot on Twitch on launch day, July 9, as streamers and viewers flocked back to the Caribbean.

The Best-Reviewed AC in Over a Decade

The commercial success is matched by critical acclaim. Resynced holds an 85% on OpenCritic and 84% on Metacritic - making it the highest-rated Assassin's Creed game since the original Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag back in 2013. For a franchise that has weathered plenty of turbulence in recent years, returning to its most beloved entry and nailing the remake is a pointed statement.

Why Black Flag, Why Now

Black Flag has long been regarded as one of the high points of the series - the entry where naval exploration, ship-to-ship combat, and open-world freedom of the golden age of piracy came together better than anywhere else. Resynced, developed by a coalition of Ubisoft studios led by Ubisoft Singapore, rebuilds that experience with modern visuals and systems while keeping the swashbuckling heart intact. On the evidence of these numbers, the nostalgia - and the craft - landed.

Smooth Sailing Ahead

Three million copies in seven days, a Steam record, chart-topping reviews, and a Twitch takeover: by any measure, Black Flag Resynced is a triumph, and a rare piece of unambiguously good news for Ubisoft. The tide, for now, is very much in the company's favor.
