The whip cracks again. Celebrating Castlevania’s 40th anniversary, Konami revealed Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 — a brand-new 2D entry in the legendary gothic-action series.

The reveal showed a sprawling, interconnected castle map in the classic Metroidvania mould, along with inventive new powers — flipping gravity to walk the ceilings and even leaping inside paintings to traverse the cursed halls. It looks like a loving modern take on the series’ 2D roots.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse launches on October 15, 2026. After years away, the return of a proper 2D Castlevania is exactly the gift fans hoped for on the franchise’s milestone birthday.
