Visuwyg's sci-fi horror shooter Derelikt now has a launch date: November 13, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and on PC via Steam. Hyperstrange is publishing. The developer announced the date on the PlayStation Blog, and PS5 pre-orders are open now with a 10% discount until launch. Derelikt is built to look like a lost late-90s PlayStation game, and the studio says the retro look is a set of deliberate technical choices, not a lack of polish.
Where it's set and who you are
The game takes place on Von Neumann Outpost, a station built onto an anomalous asteroid found in orbit around Saturn. Morale is already low before you arrive. The work is gruelling, Earth is a long way off, and a mysterious drone seems to be pushing the crew toward breaking point.
You play an outside contractor sent to find out what happened to Excavation Team Delta, a crew that went missing on the asteroid's surface. Things quickly get worse. Corridors are dark, station systems are failing, and the survivors you meet tell stories that don't line up. Visuwyg says the core of the game is the feeling that you can't trust anyone around you while you're also facing very alien horrors.

Guns, prototypes and alien weapons
Derelikt is a first-person shooter. The outpost's armoury starts you on conventional firearms, and as you go deeper you can find prototype weapons and eventually alien ones. Combat is quick, but the studio says it's only one part of the design. Managing resources, exploring, talking to people and solving old-school puzzles are meant to build the tension just as much as the fights.
The game has more than a dozen characters to deal with, each with their own secrets and agenda. The developer's own summary is that some can help you, some are dangerous and some are doomed, and that most of them are all three. Steam describes the game as a narrative retro FPS for fans of claustrophobic PS1-era sci-fi horror.

A PS1 look built on purpose
The studio describes its goal like this: Derelikt should feel as if someone found it on a CD-R in a storage unit left behind by a late-90s developer and simply ported it to modern hardware. Visuwyg says it wanted the most faithful recreation of fifth-generation console graphics on the market, while insisting that retro doesn't have to mean crude.
In practice, every texture is hand-painted and lighting is done with vertex colours, as it often was on original PlayStation hardware. The game deliberately uses affine texture warping, the wobble that defined the PS1's 3D. It then reduces the effect by dynamically subdividing geometry, the trick the most technically advanced games of that era used. The aim is a game that looks good but could still plausibly have run on period hardware. There are also retro-style full-motion CGI cutscenes, and players can switch the individual effects on or off.
The design underneath is meant to be modern. The studio says it combined current design ideas with the core feel of that era of sci-fi horror, so the presentation is old but the game shouldn't play like a museum piece.

Five years in the making
Visuwyg says Derelikt has been in development in some form since late 2021. The studio calls the process turbulent, and it describes launching on a PlayStation console as a full-circle moment for a game built around the PSOne's sci-fi horror library.
