Forza Horizon 6 finally has a PlayStation 5 date. Playground Games confirmed today that its Japan-set open-world racer arrives on PS5 on January 26, 2027, and PlayStation Store pre-orders are open now. The PS5 launch shares its week with the game's first paid expansion and a free content update for every player, so the new platform lands as part of a wider content drop rather than as a standalone port. Players who buy the Premium Edition can start five days early, on January 21.
Dates, editions and early access
The PS5 version comes in three editions, plus a Premium Upgrade for anyone who starts on a cheaper tier. The Standard and Deluxe Editions unlock on January 26, 2027. The Premium Edition carries the early-access window and opens on January 21, 2027.
What each tier includes, per the official announcement:
- Standard Edition: the base game.
- Deluxe Edition: the base game, the Welcome Pack and the Car Pass.
- Premium Edition: everything in Deluxe, plus VIP Membership, the Time Attack Car Pack, the Italian Passion Car Pack, Expansion 1 and Expansion 2.
- Premium Upgrade: the Premium extras for Standard or Deluxe owners (the base game is sold separately).
Every PS5 pre-order, whatever the edition, adds a pre-tuned Ferrari J50 to your garage once you finish the prologue. The game is also getting a physical disc release at participating retailers, which matters to the part of the PS5 audience that still buys boxed copies. Playground has not listed regional prices in its announcement, so check the PlayStation Store listing in your region before committing.

The first expansion lands on January 21
The timing is not a coincidence. Forza Horizon 6's first Premium Expansion releases on January 21, 2027 on every platform, which means Xbox and PC owners of the Premium Edition get it on the same day that PS5 Premium buyers begin their early access. It is included at no extra cost in the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade and the Expansions Bundle, and it will also be sold on its own.
Playground has not yet named the expansion or said where it takes place. A second expansion is part of the Premium package as well, but it is only described as arriving at a later date.
Alongside the PS5 release and the expansion, a free content update goes out to all players on every platform. The studio says details will follow closer to launch, so for now there is no content list for that update.
Crossplay, cross-save and shared creations
The PS5 version is not a walled-off island. It supports cross-platform play and cross-save with both the Xbox and Steam versions, so a player who has been racing on PC since May can carry their progress over and keep driving with the same friends. That cross-play reach also covers user-generated content: EventLab races, Prefabs, Garages, Estates, Liveries and Tuning Setups are all shared across platforms.
For a game built around a living festival, that last point is the big one. Since launch, the community's custom tracks, paint jobs and tunes have become one of the main reasons to keep playing, and PS5 players will get the whole back catalogue on day one instead of a fresh, empty library.

Who made the port, and how it runs
The PS5 conversion is handled by Panic Button, working closely with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios. Panic Button has a long track record of bringing demanding games to new hardware, which should reassure anyone worried about a quick-and-dirty port.
On performance, Playground says the PS5 pre-order trailer was captured on a base PS5 in a Quality mode running at 4K and 30fps. A Performance mode targeting 60fps will also be available. The announcement does not mention PS5 Pro enhancements, DualSense haptics or an install size, so those remain open questions until closer to launch.
Where Forza Horizon 6 stands now
Forza Horizon 6 launched on Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 19, 2026, moving the series to Japan with a map that stretches from the neon streets of Tokyo to snowy mountain roads, and with seasons that reshape the world as the year turns. It has kept growing through the Evolving World updates since, the most recent of which, Horizon Meets, went live today.
Playground had originally aimed to bring the game to PlayStation later in 2026. The new date lands it a few weeks into the new year instead, but it gives PS5 players a cleaner starting point: a game that has had eight months of updates, a full community library, and a first expansion arriving the same week.

The short version
Forza Horizon 6 arrives on PS5 on January 26, 2027, with Premium Edition early access from January 21. Pre-orders are live on the PlayStation Store, every pre-order includes a pre-tuned Ferrari J50, and a physical edition is coming. Crossplay and cross-save with Xbox and Steam are in from day one, and the first expansion and a free update launch the same week on every platform.
