Grand Theft Auto VI's version of Miami is about to get an NBA team. The Miami HEAT and Rockstar Games have announced A Night in Vice City, a one-off crossover on November 18 in which the HEAT will take the floor as "Vice City" when they host the Milwaukee Bucks at Kaseya Center. That is the eve of GTA VI's November 19 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, which makes it the biggest real-world stunt yet in a marketing campaign that has been building all year.
The game itself
Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM Eastern on Wednesday, November 18. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN, with local coverage on Local 10 in South Florida, so this is not a promotion tucked away on a regional feed. Anyone watching a mid-November NBA game that night will get a three-hour look at what Rockstar's Vice City branding looks like when it is wrapped around an actual arena.
The HEAT's own event page describes it as a never-been-done-before event, and on the face of it that holds up. Teams wear sponsor patches and city editions all the time, but a franchise temporarily playing under the name of a fictional city from a video game, for a nationally televised regular-season game, is new territory for the league.
A court and a uniform built for one night
Two pieces of the event are getting the most attention. The first is the court. The HEAT say they will play on special hardwood built for Vice City, and they are explicit that it is a one-court, one-night-only design. The second is the uniform: the team will wear a completely reimagined kit that it has never worn before. Neither has been shown in full yet. The HEAT are running a sign-up for what they call the uniform drop, which suggests the jersey will get its own reveal closer to the date, and probably its own retail release.
Fans in Miami have already seen the opening move. The partnership kicked off on October 1, when "Welcome to Vice City" signage was lit up on top of Kaseya Center, the waterfront arena on Biscayne Boulevard that has been the HEAT's home since 2000. The team says more game-night activations are still to be announced, including activities inside the arena starting from the HEAT's Opening Night, so the Vice City branding will be around for weeks before the Bucks game itself.

The merch is already on sale
If you want something Vice City-branded before the game, the HEAT's Court Culture apparel line already has a Vice City collection on sale at Miami HEAT Store locations and online. The first items are oversized tees and a crop top, priced from $45 to $55, including a Vice City Grill tee, a Vice City Souvenir tee, an "I love Vice City" crop and a Vice City Pool Service pocket tee made with the Miami brand Duvin. The designs lean heavily on the pastel, palm-tree postcard look that Rockstar has used across GTA VI's trailers and key art.
That fits a pattern. Rockstar has spent 2026 pushing GTA VI out of the usual gaming channels and into mainstream spaces, from the extended gameplay look that premiered on Netflix in August to a $399.99 Vice City collector's box that went up for pre-order last month. An NBA game on ESPN is the same idea: putting the game in front of a huge audience that might never watch a trailer.
Why Miami, and why that date
The fit is obvious. Vice City has been Rockstar's stand-in for Miami since 2002's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and GTA VI returns to it as the centrepiece of the fictional state of Leonida. Turning the real city's team into the fictional city's team is about as direct a tie-in as you could build, and it lets the HEAT lean into the neon, pastel-soaked Miami Vice aesthetic that the team already plays with in its own Vice-branded city edition uniforms.
The timing is just as deliberate. November 18 is the last night before GTA VI's launch, the point at which interest will be at its peak and midnight launch plans are being made. Holding the event the night before release rather than after it means the stunt works as a countdown rather than a celebration, and it puts the game on national television on the last possible evening before players can buy it.
What to know
A Night in Vice City is on November 18 at 7:00 PM ET at Kaseya Center, with the HEAT playing as Vice City against the Milwaukee Bucks, live on ESPN nationally and on Local 10 in South Florida. Tickets are on sale through the HEAT's usual Ticketmaster listing. The court is a one-night design, the uniform is still to be revealed, and the Court Culture Vice City apparel is available now. Grand Theft Auto VI launches the following day, November 19, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
