Never Grave Is Bringing Its Cursed-Hat Metroidvania to Android - Pre-Registration Is Open

Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse, the cursed-hat Metroidvania-roguelite from Pocketpair Publishing and Frontside 180, is coming to Android, with pre-registration now open on Google Play. No firm mobile release date has been given yet, but the console-quality action-platformer - built around possessing enemies and four-player co-op - is one to watch on phones.

Never Grave Is Bringing Its Cursed-Hat Metroidvania to Android - Pre-Registration Is Open

Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse is heading to mobile. Pocketpair Publishing - the publishing arm of the studio behind Palworld - and developer Frontside 180 have opened Android pre-registration for the cursed-hat Metroidvania on Google Play, bringing one of the year's more distinctive indie action games to phones.

Never Grave first launched in March 2026 on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S. The Android version was announced with pre-registration going live in July; Pocketpair has not yet confirmed a firm mobile release date, and there is no word on an iOS version.

A Cursed Hat, and a Lot of Possession

It is a hand-drawn Metroidvania crossed with a roguelite. You play a witch bound to a sentient cursed hat, delving into a sprawling underworld to reach its lowest depths. The standout mechanic is possession: when your body falls, the hat can leap onto a nearby enemy and keep going, letting you borrow the abilities of whatever you take over. Runs feed back into a home village you gradually rebuild and upgrade between expeditions, and the whole thing supports up to four-player co-op.

Another Console-Quality Metroidvania for Phones

Never Grave joins a growing wave of premium action-platformers making the jump to mobile, and its striking storybook art style should translate well to a touchscreen. The big question - as ever with this genre on phones - will be control mapping and whether the mobile build keeps the full co-op experience intact. For now, Android players can register their interest on Google Play to be notified when it goes live.
