Asobo Studio is returning to the world of A Plague Tale - but this time it is looking back rather than forward. Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a new prequel to the acclaimed Innocence and Requiem, and it arrives August 27, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, published by Focus Entertainment.
Rather than continuing the story of Amicia and Hugo, Resonance hands the lead to Sophia - the sharp, resourceful ship captain who became a fan favourite in Requiem. The new game follows an original chapter of her past, trading the plague-ravaged towns of medieval France for a sun-bleached Mediterranean island steeped in myth.

Into the Minotaur's Island
The setting is described as the Minotaur's Island: a place of ancient ruins, half-buried temples and ceremonial labyrinths, where Sophia must outsmart deadly foes, unravel long-buried secrets and eventually confront a mythical creature at the heart of a devastating curse. It is a bold change of scenery for a series known for its grey, rat-swarmed European backdrops, and the screenshots trade that grim palette for turquoise water, crumbling colonnades and towering stonework.
Familiar Tension, New Puzzles
Expect the series' signature blend of stealth, light-and-shadow puzzle-solving and tense survival, now built around the island's mythology and its rune-lined labyrinths. Asobo has positioned Legacy as a focused, standalone story you can enjoy whether or not you have played the earlier games - a self-contained detour into the corner of the world Requiem only hinted at.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy launches August 27, 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
