Palworld 1.0 Is Here - The Full Release Lands With a Colossal Update, the World Tree, and 20+ New Pals

Pocketpair's monster-collecting phenomenon has finally exited Early Access. Palworld 1.0 launched July 10 as a free update with a 27-page changelog - adding the long-teased World Tree, the Sky Islands, 20-plus new Pals, water-based building, reworked tower bosses, and a breeding-defining new system called Genetic Recombination.

Palworld 1.0 Is Here - The Full Release Lands With a Colossal Update, the World Tree, and 20+ New Pals

Two and a half years after it detonated onto Steam and became one of the fastest-selling games in history, Palworld has finally shed its "Early Access" tag. Pocketpair's genre-blending, monster-collecting survival-crafter reached Version 1.0 on July 10, 2026, and it did so in the most Palworld way imaginable: with a colossal, roughly 27-page changelog, a first-ever cinematic trailer that premiered at Summer Game Fest, and a price tag that did not move an inch. The 1.0 update is free for everyone who already owns the game.

The World Tree Finally Opens Up

Ever since players first spotted it looming on the horizon, the World Tree has been Palworld's great unanswered question. Version 1.0 finally turns that distant landmark into a genuine destination - a major explorable area that anchors the game's expanded story. Alongside it come the Sky Islands, a brand-new region of floating landmasses that pushes exploration upward and leans hard into the game's flying-mount traversal.

The trailer frames all of this around an ominous new threat: the player rides a new flying Pal, clashes with a sword-transforming Pal against a giant winged creature, and only after the fight does the path to the tree open. It is the closest Palworld has come to a genuine narrative climax.

More Than 20 New Pals

The Paldeck has ballooned again. Pocketpair teased over 20 new Pals ahead of launch, including standouts like the Sky Dragon, the Sword Eel, the Tree Guardian, and a massive Giant Whale. As ever, they are not just collectibles - each slots into the game's overlapping systems of combat, base labor, mounts, and breeding.

Genetic Recombination Changes the Breeding Game

The headline mechanical addition is Genetic Recombination, and it is aimed squarely at the min-maxers. The new system expands the breeding loop by letting you combine genes from Legendary Pals, producing more powerful, more distinctive offspring with unique traits that can dramatically change how they perform. For the corner of the community that treats Palworld as a competitive optimization sandbox, this is the deepest the breeding system has ever gone.

Build on Water, Fight Smarter Bosses, and Follow the Story

Base-builders finally get their most-requested feature: water-based building. New foundations, structure sets, and furniture designed for water mean you can build clean bases on or near the shoreline instead of fighting the terrain. On top of that, the tower bosses have been reworked to feel more dynamic and engaging, and a new set of story-based missions gives the wider narrative real structure and adds lore to the islands themselves.

Free, Full, and On PS5

Crucially, none of this sits behind a paywall. Version 1.0 is a free update, Pocketpair did not raise the price, and the full release also lands on PlayStation 5 - where Push Square notes the launch-day patch notes are nothing short of "colossal." Existing saves remain compatible, though Pocketpair recommends starting fresh for the best experience.

Palworld arrived as a lightning-in-a-bottle curiosity and a lightning rod for controversy. Two and a half years later, it crosses the 1.0 finish line as something more durable: a genuinely enormous survival game with a world worth finishing. The tree is finally within reach - go climb it.
