Sony has revealed the PlayStation Plus Essential Monthly Games for July 2026, and it's a nicely varied trio spanning a blockbuster shooter, a beloved indie RPG and a chaotic co-op roguelite. All three titles are available to claim from Tuesday, July 7, and stay in your library as long as your subscription is active.
This month's lineup is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (Cross-Gen Bundle), CrossCode and For the King II — a mix that has something for solo players, co-op groups and multiplayer diehards alike.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
The headliner is the Cross-Gen Bundle of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III on PS5 and PS4. Beyond its campaign, MWIII bundles a full suite of modernised classic multiplayer maps and the open-world, PvE Zombies mode — a lot of content to sink into for free, even if the campaign drew a lukewarm reception at launch.

CrossCode
The gem of the month for many will be CrossCode, a retro-inspired 2D action RPG that fuses gorgeous 16-bit-style visuals with genuinely snappy, physics-driven combat and clever puzzle dungeons, all wrapped in a surprisingly heartfelt science-fiction story about an MMO. It's a critical darling that plenty of players missed, and it's an easy recommendation for anyone who loves the genre.

For the King II
Rounding things out is For the King II, the sequel to the much-loved roguelite that blends tabletop RPG structure with turn-based combat and strategy. Queen Rosomon has turned on her subjects, and it's up to you — solo or in up to four-player co-op — to push back through the dangers of Fahrul. It's an ideal pick-up for a group looking for their next shared campaign.

As always, the July games replace June's Essential lineup, so it's worth adding them to your library before the next monthly rotation even if you don't plan to play right away. All three are yours to keep while you stay subscribed to PlayStation Plus.
