Stormind Games is taking both of its Remothered games back into the workshop. Remothered: Tormented Fathers Remastered and Remothered: Broken Porcelain Remastered are both dated for the first quarter of 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, where they will be sold through Steam, the Epic Games Store, GOG and the Microsoft Store. The headline for people who already own the originals: the upgrade will be free for the first seven days after release.
Two games, one engine jump
Both remasters make the same fundamental move, lifting the games out of Unreal Engine 4 and rebuilding them in Unreal Engine 5. Stormind is not pitching this as a remake. The store pages for both titles stress that the core gameplay, mechanics, balance and feel of the originals are preserved, and that the work sits in everything around that core.
The biggest single change is lighting. Each game's lighting has been reconstructed with Lumen, the dynamic global illumination system in Unreal Engine 5, so shadows, flickering lamps and dark corridors respond to the scene in real time rather than relying on the older baked approach. For a series built on hiding in the dark and listening for footsteps, that is the part of the upgrade most likely to change how the games feel moment to moment.

What else is being rebuilt
Beyond the lighting, Stormind lists a consistent set of improvements for both games:
- Environments: props, architecture and vegetation rebuilt with higher-resolution models, materials and textures throughout.
- Characters: the cast, including Tormented Fathers lead Rosemary Reed, refined with better fidelity and material quality while keeping the original art direction.
- Cinematics: in-game cutscenes reworked to a more modern production standard.
- Interface: UI and menus redesigned from scratch for readability.
- Stability: legacy bugs from the original releases fixed.
That last point is worth underlining. Both originals were ambitious projects from a small Italian team, and bug fixes are listed right alongside the visual work rather than tucked away as an afterthought.
A free upgrade, with a deadline
Stormind is framing the launch as a thank-you to the players who kept the series alive. Anyone who owns Tormented Fathers or Broken Porcelain will be able to upgrade to the corresponding remaster at no cost during the first week the remasters are on sale. After those seven days, standard pricing applies. The studio has not yet announced what that price will be, nor exactly how the offer will work on each storefront, so owners will want to watch for those details closer to release.
Company CEO Antonio Cannata tied the offer directly to the fanbase, noting that the people who bought and supported the first two games are the reason the series grew at all. It is a notably generous structure compared with the paid remaster upgrades that have become common, even if the one-week window means it rewards players who are paying attention on launch day.

Where the two games fit
Tormented Fathers, the first chapter, follows Rosemary Reed as she investigates a missing girl in the villa of the elderly Felton family, and leans on the stalk-and-hide survival horror that defined the series. Broken Porcelain continues the saga at the Ashmann Inn, a crumbling boarding house, with Jennifer as the protagonist and the unsettling Red Nun among the threats stalking its halls. Both games draw heavily on Italian giallo cinema, and the remasters keep that identity intact.
The timing matters too. Stormind is also working on Remothered: Red Nun's Legacy, the next entry in the series, which has already shown a story trailer. Getting refreshed versions of the first two chapters onto current consoles, including Switch 2, gives new players a straightforward way to catch up on a story that is about to continue.

What we still don't know
A few pieces are missing. There is no specific release date inside the Q1 2027 window yet, no confirmed price after the free week ends, and no word on whether the two remasters will also be offered together as a bundle. Stormind has not said whether physical editions are planned either. Both games have store pages up on Steam now, so wishlisting them is the easiest way to be alerted once a firm date lands.
For now, the key facts are simple: two Remothered remasters, early 2027, every major platform, and a free week-one upgrade for anyone who already owns the originals.
