Capcom's newest survival horror juggernaut just keeps running. Resident Evil Requiem has now surpassed 7 million copies sold worldwide, a milestone reached in roughly two months since the game launched on February 27, 2026. That makes it the fastest-selling Resident Evil game in the franchise's 30-year history, outpacing even the blockbuster RE4 remake, which took a full year to hit the same number.
Director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed the milestone on his Instagram Stories, sharing images from an internal celebration at Capcom's offices. The party, complete with Leon and Grace-themed cakes, also featured a surprise guest — The Game Awards producer Geoff Keighley — fueling immediate speculation that a major Requiem reveal could be in the pipeline for this June's Summer Game Fest.
Requiem introduced Grace Ashcroft, a young FBI analyst thrown headfirst into a survival horror nightmare, and it resonated immediately. Reviews have been overwhelmingly positive — the game currently sits at 96% positive on Steam from nearly 48,000 user reviews — and its blend of investigation-driven narrative with classic Resident Evil tension clearly struck a chord with both newcomers and long-time fans.

Mini-Game DLC Arriving After Golden Week
Capcom isn't resting on its laurels. Nakanishi also confirmed that a mini-game DLC is coming to Requiem shortly after Japan's Golden Week holiday (which runs April 29 through May 6). While the exact nature of the mode hasn't been officially detailed, the director described it as "strictly based on the battles in the main game" — language that strongly hints at a Mercenaries-style combat challenge mode, a beloved staple of previous Resident Evil entries.
There's a catch, though: the mini-game will only unlock after players complete the main story. Capcom's messaging has been clear about this, with Nakanishi specifically encouraging players to finish the campaign this week in preparation.

Story DLC Still in Full Production
Beyond the mini-game, a full story expansion is also in development, though Capcom hasn't shared a release window. Nakanishi confirmed it's in "full production" but offered no further details. Given Keighley's cameo at the celebration and Capcom's history of supporting Summer Game Fest, a reveal there feels like a strong possibility.
For now, Requiem's momentum shows no sign of slowing. Seven million copies in two months is an extraordinary achievement for any game, let alone one that launched into a packed February alongside several other major titles. Capcom's survival horror flagship continues to prove that when the formula works, nothing else in gaming quite matches it.
