Shapez 2 Hits 1.0 With New Manufacture Mode, Full Modding Support, and 650K Sales Under Its Belt

shapez 2 exits Early Access today with its 1.0 launch, introducing Manufacture Mode, full Steam Workshop modding support, and 70+ achievements after selling over 650,000 copies with a 97% positive rating.

Shapez 2 Hits 1.0 With New Manufacture Mode, Full Modding Support, and 650K Sales Under Its Belt

After nearly two years in Early Access, shapez 2 has officially hit its 1.0 milestone today, April 23. The factory-building phenomenon from developer Tobias Springer has been one of Steam's quiet success stories, amassing over 650,000 sales and an Overwhelmingly Positive review rating of 97% during its time in early access. Now the full release is here, and it brings a massive wave of new content.

The centerpiece of the 1.0 update is the brand-new Manufacture Mode. Unlike the existing puzzle-focused campaign, Manufacture Mode gives players a sandbox-style experience where they can build large-scale, permanent factories from the ground up. Players start with early layouts, establish resource chains, and eventually connect to Trade Stations that expand the scope of their operations. It's the kind of open-ended playground that factory game enthusiasts have been requesting since the game first launched into Early Access back in August 2024.

Full Modding Support and Steam Workshop

The other headline feature is full modding support with Steam Workshop integration. Players can now create, share, and install mods directly through Steam, opening the door for community-created content that could dramatically extend the game's lifespan. From new shapes and machines to entirely reworked progression systems, the modding community now has the tools to go wild.

Rounding out the 1.0 package are over 70 achievements, improved visuals, and numerous quality-of-life refinements that polish the overall experience. The developer estimates at least 25 hours of content in the base campaign alone, with Manufacture Mode adding significantly more playtime on top of that.

A Genre That Keeps Growing

shapez 2 occupies a unique space in the factory-building genre. Where games like Factorio and Satisfactory lean into survival elements and resource extraction, shapez 2 strips things down to pure logistics and pattern matching. The result is something that feels more like an elaborate puzzle game wrapped in factory-building mechanics, and the community has clearly responded to that focused approach.

With 650,000 copies already sold and a 97% positive rating, shapez 2 enters its full release from a position of strength. The addition of Manufacture Mode and modding support should attract a new wave of players who were waiting for the complete package before diving in. If you've been on the fence about factory builders or just want something a little different from the usual suspects, shapez 2's 1.0 launch is a strong place to start.
