Mega Crit has dropped a substantial new update for Slay the Spire 2, and it touches just about everything. Beta patch v0.104.0 overhauls the Ascension system, reworks a batch of Ironclad cards, introduces a brand-new Badges feature, and fixes one of the community's longest-standing complaints about Neow's Fury. The result is a game that is more welcoming to newcomers while raising the ceiling for veteran players.
Badges: A New Way to Mark Your Runs
The headline addition is Badges, a system that appears at the end of each run to highlight notable moments from that playthrough. Beat a boss without taking damage? Finished the run without spending gold? Cleared it quickly? Each achievement earns a distinct Badge, giving players a reason to push beyond simply winning and adding a layer of replayability that the community has been requesting since early access launched.
Multiplayer badges are also included, recognizing co-op achievements alongside the solo ones.

Ascension Gets a Complete Rework
Mega Crit acknowledged that the current baseline difficulty was too steep for many players. The update tunes lower Ascension levels to be more approachable while keeping higher tiers punishing for the hardcore crowd. Enemy scaling in multiplayer has also been toned down, making co-op runs less of a meat grinder in early floors.
Ironclad Card Reworks and Neow's Fury Fix
Several Ironclad cards have been reworked, including Drum of Battle and Conflagration. But the change players are most excited about is the long-overdue fix to Neow's Fury. Previously, this blessing randomly selected two cards from your discard pile. Now you choose them yourself, eliminating a frustration that has dogged players since launch.

Community Response
The reaction on Reddit and social media has been largely positive. Players have welcomed the dual approach of making lower Ascensions accessible while raising the ceiling at the top end. The Badges system in particular has been called a smart way to add replay value without inflating the core loop.
Slay the Spire 2 remains in early access on Steam, with Mega Crit continuing its steady cadence of updates as it works toward a full 1.0 release.
