Cozy Sky-Island Survival Game Solarpunk Confirmed as a Day-One Xbox Game Pass Launch - Cyberwave and rokaplay's Floating-Island Crafting Sandbox Arrives June 8 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Switch 2 and PC After Passing 1 Million Steam Wishlists

Xbox's cozy-game library is about to get a little more uplifting. Solarpunk, the serene floating-island survival sandbox from two-person German studio Cyberwave, has been confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title when it launches on June 8, 2026. The reveal arrived alongside a fresh trailer, giving subscribers a closer look at the airship-faring, drone-automating world they will be able to dive into at no extra cost.

Published by rokaplay, Solarpunk trades the grim, scrape-to-survive tone of most survival games for something far gentler: a bright, optimistic future where humanity lives in harmony with nature among islands drifting high above the clouds. You build, farm, cook, decorate and explore at your own pace, solo or in co-op for up to four players.

At the heart of the experience is your airship. Each player can construct and customise their own flying vessel, then use it to sail between the surrounding sky islands in search of new biomes, resources and places to settle. It is exploration as a relaxed ritual rather than a white-knuckle scramble.

Clean energy and gentle automation

True to its name, Solarpunk leans hard into renewable power. You harness sunlight, wind and water to build out an energy grid that keeps your home humming, then hand off the busywork to transport drones that gather resources and tend your crops while you focus on the fun stuff — designing buildings, cooking new recipes and beautifying your slice of the sky. Animals are companions to coexist with rather than resources to strip-mine, reinforcing the game's hopeful, low-stress philosophy.

A wishlist phenomenon

For a game made by a studio of just two people, Solarpunk has built a remarkable head of steam. It has already sailed past one million wishlists on Steam — a figure that puts it in rarefied indie company — after a successful crowdfunding campaign and years of community-facing development. Landing on Game Pass from day one only widens that potential audience, dropping the cosy builder straight into the libraries of millions of Xbox players.

When and where to play

Solarpunk launches on June 8, 2026 across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store — and it joins Xbox Game Pass on the same day. Whether you are after a calm solo retreat or a co-op project to potter away at with friends, it is shaping up to be one of the more distinctive cozy launches of the summer.
