Marvel's Spider-Man 2 just got a surprise gift with no warning shot. On July 28, 2026, Insomniac Games released update 1.005.000 for the PS5 exclusive, bundling in two free suits, a meaningful visual upgrade for PS5 Pro owners, and a new power-saving option - all without a prior announcement.
Two New Suits, Zero Requirements
Insomniac announced the update directly: "Get TWO NEW SUITS for Peter Parker in today's update, including the Fresh Start and the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls suits. v1.005.000 also adds support for Enhanced PSSR on PS5 Pro and Power Saver mode!" Both suits are unlocked immediately with no challenges or currency required - update the game and they're simply there in your wardrobe.
The Fresh Start suit is drawn directly from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, timed to line up with the film's theatrical release on July 31. The second suit crosses over from Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls - the Arc System Works fighting game that just gave its own SDCC spotlight to a Phoenix Cyclops DLC reveal - continuing the web of suit exchanges running between Sony's current Marvel game lineup.
A Real PS5 Pro Upgrade, Not Just Cosmetics
The more substantial change is technical. Enhanced PSSR brings native PSSR 2.0 support exclusively to PlayStation 5 Pro, with Insomniac and Sony saying it improves both image quality and performance over the previous reconstruction method. Every PS5 model also gains a new Power Saver mode, letting players scale back performance in exchange for reduced power draw - a small but increasingly common option as Sony leans further into giving players explicit control over that trade-off.
PC Owners Aren't Left Out
The suits aren't PS5-exclusive. Spider-Man 2's PC version moved to build 2.727.0.0 alongside the console patch, and both new suits are available there too once you update - a detail some early coverage missed, but a welcome one for the game's cross-platform audience.
