The chaotic co-op railroad builder is steaming back to the station. Unrailed 2: Back on Track, the sequel to Indoor Astronaut’s beloved couch-and-online co-op hit, will leave Steam Early Access and launch as a full 1.0 release on June 11, 2026, arriving simultaneously on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 for $19.99. Publisher Kepler Ghost confirmed the date alongside a new trailer.
If you missed the original, the concept is gloriously simple and fiendishly stressful: you and up to three friends must lay track for a train that never stops moving, chopping trees, mining ore, crafting rails and bolting them down just ahead of the locomotive as it barrels across procedurally generated terrain. One wrong move — or one teammate wandering off — and the whole run derails into glorious chaos.
Bigger, weirder, and more to break
Back on Track expands the formula in just about every direction. There are now six distinct biomes to carve through, each with its own hazards, plus full-blown boss encounters that shake up the usual rhythm of frantic track-laying. A deeper layer of unlockable upgrades, train parts, characters and gear gives runs more variety and a stronger sense of progression than the first game ever offered.
Build your own chaos
One of the headline additions is Terrain Conductor, a custom map tool that lets players design their own levels and share them with the community — a feature practically built for the game’s creative, masochistic fanbase. Competitive players are catered to as well, with an 8-player Versus Mode and leaderboards turning the cooperative scramble into a full-on race.
A long road out of Early Access
Unrailed 2 has spent a healthy stretch in Early Access being shaped by its players, and the 1.0 build represents the culmination of that work — a fuller, more polished package than the version many players first tried. With cross-platform availability on day one and a friendly price tag, it’s positioned as one of June’s easiest co-op recommendations.
Mark the date
Whether you are a returning conductor or a newcomer looking for the next great party game, Unrailed 2: Back on Track rolls out on June 11. Round up three friends, stock up on snacks, and prepare to blame each other when the train inevitably plunges into a river.
