Reverse: 1999, Bluepoch’s acclaimed 20th-century time-travel strategy RPG, has rolled out its latest chapter. Version 3.5, “The Turquoise Serpent Club,” went live on May 28 across mobile, PC and PlayStation 5, whisking the Timekeeper away to Mexico City on the eve of Día de los Muertos for a story steeped in ritual, pigment and buried secrets.
True to the series’ literary, slow-burn style, the new main-story chapter picks up directly from Version 3.4’s cliffhanger. Chasing leads on a so-called Resurrection Ritual, the Timekeeper steps into a city draped in marigolds and candlelight, where an uninvited “detective” starts peeling back a past concealed beneath layers of paint and plaster.
Lorentz Butterfly leads the banner
Headlining the update is Lorentz Butterfly, a new 6-star Intellect Arcanist whose real name is Marguerite. Her Phase 1 banner opened with the patch on May 28 and runs for three weeks, closing on June 18. Built around clever crowd control and burst damage, she has quickly become a focal point for players plotting their pulls around the version’s two-phase banner schedule.
Ramona waits in the wings
Phase 2 hands the spotlight to Ramona, a new 6-star Plant Arcanist, whose banner runs from June 18 to July 2 alongside her own character side story. Returning veteran Shamane, a 6-star Beast Arcanist, also receives a Euphoria upgrade this version, meaningfully boosting the effectiveness of his Edict of Atman skill for players who have invested in him.
Events and free rewards
The version is bundled with a generous slate of limited-time content. The flagship event, “The Turquoise Serpent Club,” runs through June 29, while a second event, “Where Spirits Rest,” stays open until July 1. Between login campaigns, event shops and anniversary-adjacent goodwill, free-to-play Timekeepers have plenty to chip away at while saving toward the banners.
A strong showcase for one of the genre’s prettiest RPGs
Reverse: 1999 continues to stand apart from its gacha peers with hand-painted art, full voice acting and a genuinely literary script, and “The Turquoise Serpent Club” is a confident continuation. With Lorentz Butterfly live now and Ramona on deck for June 18, version 3.5 gives both new and returning players a compelling reason to set the clock back once more.
