The trains are running on time again. Unrailed 2: Back on Track has left Early Access today, June 11, 2026, launching its full 1.0 version on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Switch for $19.99. Developer Indoor Astronaut has spent since November 2024 in Early Access tuning the chaotic co-op sequel, and 1.0 is the version it wants everyone to climb aboard.
If you missed the original, the pitch is gloriously simple and endlessly stressful: you and up to three friends have to lay railroad track ahead of a train that absolutely will not stop. Someone chops trees, someone mines ore, someone crafts rails, someone bolts them down - and the moment communication breaks down, so does the locomotive, usually in spectacular fashion.
More biomes, more bosses, more bolts
The 1.0 build rounds out the sequel with six biomes, each with their own hazards and a boss waiting at the end of the line. Procedurally generated maps keep every run fresh, while unlockable upgrades, train parts, characters and gear give you reasons to keep coming back once the credits roll on a region. It is the kind of game that turns a quiet evening with friends into a shouting match - in the best possible way.

Custom maps and a competitive streak
Beyond the core campaign, Unrailed 2 leans into longevity. The Terrain Conductor custom map tools let you build and share your own scenarios with the community, and an 8-player Versus mode with leaderboards turns the cooperative panic into a competitive one. For a $20 party game, that is a deep bench of reasons to keep the console plugged in.

The original Unrailed became a couch-co-op staple precisely because its simple rules produced gloriously complicated arguments. With 1.0 now live across PlayStation, both Switch generations and PC, Back on Track has every opportunity to do the same - assuming your friendships can survive the next derailment.
