2026 marks 25 years of Xbox, and Microsoft celebrated in style at the Xbox Games Showcase with the reveal of the Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection — a love letter to the original console, headlined by the striking Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition.
For the first time ever, Xbox is giving the Series X a translucent shell, drawing directly on the original Xbox and its famous “OG Green” look — all wrapped around the full power of a Series X, complete with 1TB of storage. The iconic “X” lights up green, a deliberate nod to the original Xbox start-up, joined by an Xbox 25th Anniversary logo on the front and a host of small tributes to classic hardware.
The console is paired with the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition — matching translucent OG Green, original ABXY colours and bumpers that honour the black-and-white buttons of the original “Duke” pad.
The Series X25 console and controller will be sold together as a limited edition collection in select markets in November 2026, with the X25 controller also available separately from October. For long-time fans, this see-through, retro-flavoured tribute is shaping up to be one of the most desirable pieces of Xbox hardware in years.
