Xbox has started testing Mythic Achievements, a new badge that marks every game you have fully completed. It went live for Xbox Insiders on September 29, and it arrives with a reworked profile page, clearer progress tracking and one detail that will matter most to long-time players: it looks backwards as well as forwards. Games you finished years ago, all the way back to the Xbox 360, are already being stamped with the new status.
What counts as Mythic
The rule is simple. Unlock every original achievement in a game and that game becomes Mythic. Achievements that arrive later, through DLC, expansions or post-launch updates, are not required. That is the most important design choice in the whole feature, because it fixes a long-running annoyance for completionists: finishing a game's list at 1,000 Gamerscore, only for a paid expansion to add new achievements and knock your completion back below 100 percent.
Under the new system, those later additions are labelled as "add-on" achievements in the list, so it is always obvious which ones count toward Mythic and which ones are optional extras. And once a game reaches Mythic, Xbox says it stays that way. A future update cannot take the badge away.
When you earn one, a dedicated notification pops up, separate from the standard achievement toast, so the final unlock in a list finally feels like the finish line it is.
Your old completions are already counted
Achievements have been part of Xbox since the Xbox 360 era, and many players have two decades of fully completed games sitting in their history. Rather than making anyone go back and re-earn anything, Xbox has applied Mythic status retroactively to eligible games that were already finished, including Xbox 360 titles. In practice, plenty of Insiders will open their profile for the first time since the update and find a stack of Mythic badges waiting for them.

A new Gaming tab on your profile
To give all of this somewhere to live, profiles now have a Gaming tab. It gathers your achievements in one place, shows how far you are from your next Gamerscore milestone badge, and lets you look back over the games you have completed. Mythic games get a distinct heroic frame around their box art in that history, so they stand out at a glance, and your running total of Mythic completions sits at the top of the page beside your overall Gamerscore.
The tab is social, too. You can open a friend's Gaming tab to see what they have finished and which games they have taken all the way to Mythic, which turns the feature into a quiet bit of friendly competition for anyone who likes comparing lists.

Seeing what is left
For games you are still working through, each achievement list now opens with a progress bar showing how close you are to Mythic. There is also an option to filter the list down to only the original achievements you have not unlocked yet, which strips out the add-on noise and leaves just the ones standing between you and the badge.
That progress information is not confined to the achievements page. It also appears in the Guide and in individual achievement details, and each qualifying achievement is tagged as required for Mythic, so you can check where you stand mid-session without digging through menus.

When everyone else gets it
For now, Mythic Achievements are limited to members of the Xbox Insider Program, which is free to join through the Xbox Insider Hub app on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC. Xbox describes it as one of its most requested features and is collecting feedback from Insiders before a wider rollout. It has not given a date for when the feature will reach all players.
Insiders who run into problems can raise them through the Xbox Insider community on Reddit, where Xbox staff and moderators handle support, and general feedback goes through Xbox's player voice portal.
