The creature-collecting genre has a bold new contender, and it just opened the door to players worldwide. Aniimo, a free-to-play open-world action RPG from developer Pawprint Studio and publisher Kingsglory (a FunPlus label), used its latest trailer to announce a Global Closed Beta ahead of a planned Q3 2026 launch.
Set in the vibrant world of Idyll, Aniimo lets you explore, battle and collect a menagerie of magical creatures. Its signature twist is Twining — a mechanic that lets you merge with your Aniimo to unlock new abilities and perspectives, blending the catch-and-train loop with real-time, open-world action combat.
The pitch is clearly aimed at players hungry for a more action-forward, free-roaming take on the Pokemon-style formula, with seamless exploration and a roster of companions that double as your toolkit for traversal and combat alike.
The Global Closed Beta is set to run this summer on PC (including Steam), iOS and Android, with sign-ups open now on the official site. When it fully launches in Q3 2026, Aniimo is planned as a true cross-platform release spanning PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and mobile — a wide net for an ambitious new free-to-play world.
