Activision closed in on one of the showcase’s biggest crowd-pleasers: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 surfaced at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 with a DMZ First Look, confirming the return of the fan-favourite extraction mode.
DMZ — the open-world, squad-based extraction mode first introduced alongside Modern Warfare II in 2022 — built a devoted following before going quiet, and its comeback in Modern Warfare 4 is exactly the revival those players have been asking for. The first look teased a fresh take on the drop-in, loot-and-extract loop that made the original so moreish.
