Genshin Impact Officially Teases Snezhnaya — Version 7.0 Arrives August 12 with Trains and Frozen Landscapes

HoYoverse confirms Genshin Impact Version 7.0 launches August 12, 2026, bringing the Snezhnaya region with a train network, Slavic-inspired music, and visual upgrades — the culmination of the story mobile and PC players have followed since launch.

Genshin Impact Officially Teases Snezhnaya — Version 7.0 Arrives August 12 with Trains and Frozen Landscapes

The wait is almost over. HoYoverse has officially confirmed that Genshin Impact Version 7.0 will launch on August 12, 2026, bringing the long-anticipated Snezhnaya region to players across mobile, PC, and PlayStation.

The announcement came through a dedicated behind-the-scenes special titled "To Snezhnaya and the Future" on April 24, giving players their first detailed look at the frozen nation that has loomed over the game's story since its 2020 debut.

A Frozen Industrial Powerhouse

Snezhnaya is described as a vast nation of glaciers and snowy wastes, defined by extreme cold and heavy industrialization. The region's capital, Snezhnograd, houses Kresnik's Torch — the core of the nation's heating system — hinting at a civilization built entirely around surviving and harnessing its brutal environment.

One of the most exciting reveals is the region's train network, which functions as both transportation and active gameplay space. Unlike teleport waypoints that skip the journey entirely, Snezhnaya's trains promise to make traversal itself an engaging experience, with encounters and events happening during transit.

Musical and Visual Identity

The development team revealed that Snezhnaya's music draws on classical symphonic influences and Slavic folk traditions, establishing a sonic identity distinct from any region before it. Character visual upgrades across the board and tighter integration between gameplay and cutscene storytelling were also confirmed, suggesting Version 7.0 represents a significant leap in production quality.

Skipping Straight to 7.0

In an unusual move, HoYoverse is skipping Version 6.8 entirely, jumping from 6.7 straight to 7.0. This signals the studio is treating the Snezhnaya launch as a major new chapter rather than an incremental update — fitting, given that Snezhnaya has been the destination the entire main story has been building toward.

A redemption code from the stream, Snezhnaya20260812, was available until April 27 and awarded 200 Primogems to players who redeemed it in time.

Genshin Impact Version 7.0 arrives on August 12, 2026, across iOS, Android, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Mobile players who have been on the journey since the beginning are about to experience what may be the game's most ambitious expansion yet.
