Honkai: Star Rail is sending the Astral Express somewhere it has never been: on holiday. Version 4.5, "To Roll the Stars in Astropolis", launches August 26 on iOS, Android, PC and PS5, and it opens an entirely new planet built around the Interastral Peace Corporation's entertainment business - beaches, resorts, a grand prix and all.
HoYoverse detailed the update in its Version 4.5 Special Program on August 14. Two limited five-star Resonators headline it, both of them alternate summer versions of characters players already have strong feelings about.
Astropolis, the IPC's holiday empire
Astropolis is described as the headquarters of Interastral Peace Entertainment - the leisure arm of the corporation that has spent most of Star Rail's runtime being the polite face of galactic capital. It arrives with three explorable maps: the Astropolis Central District, Lodestar Tower and Skycall Aery.
The story is not purely a vacation episode. The Trailblazer is dealing with a crisis in Planarcadia caused by an entity called the Voracity, and doing it while nominally on an "unforgettable interstellar vacation" with Robin and Aventurine. Star Rail has run this tonal trick before - the joke and the disaster in the same scene - and Astropolis looks engineered for it.

The banners, in order
Phase 1 opens with the update on August 26. Robin - Summeretto debuts as a five-star Wind Resonator walking the Path of Remembrance, running alongside a Hyacine rerun.
Phase 2 follows on September 12 with Aventurine - Waveflair, a five-star Quantum unit on the Path of Elation, paired with an Ashveil rerun.
Both alternate versions are a meaningful shift rather than a costume. Robin's original incarnation is a Harmony support; Summeretto moves her onto Remembrance, which changes what she is for entirely. Aventurine going Elation is a similarly large jump from his Preservation role. Anyone planning pulls should treat these as new characters that happen to share a face, not upgrades to units they already own.
Six events, one of them a racing tournament
Version 4.5 ships with six events - two leisure, two combat, a recurring seven-day login and the usual supporting run. The headliner is Overdrive: Whirlwind Grand Prix, a racing competition, with Minuscule Great Adventure handling the low-stress stage-challenge side. Divergent Universe also gets a gameplay update, and there is a new emoti standee headwear cosmetic for anyone who collects those.
The quality-of-life change people asked for
Buried in the patch notes is the one item that will get the loudest cheer on phones: from Version 4.5, story dialogue can be sped up. Star Rail's cutscenes are long by design and the game has never had a satisfying middle ground between watching every line and skipping the whole scene. On a commute, that has been the single biggest friction point in an otherwise phone-friendly RPG.
And the Zenless Zone Zero crossover is real
HoYoverse also used the broadcast to confirm something it had only hinted at: a Zenless Zone Zero collaboration is coming to Honkai: Star Rail later in 2026, with ZZZ characters crossing over. Specifics - who, and in which version - were not given.
There is a hardware tie-in too, with a MOONDROP partnership built around Sparxie-themed products and in-game events. That one is for the audio nerds.
What to do before August 26
The usual pre-patch housekeeping applies: clear your Trailblaze Power ahead of maintenance, bank Stellar Jade if you are chasing Summeretto in the first half, and expect a sizeable download - a new planet with three maps is not a small patch on a phone. Version 4.5 goes live after maintenance on August 26 across iOS, Android, PC and PS5.
