Niantic kicks off Blanche's Quest for Knowledge in Pokemon GO today, Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time, handing trainers the second of three Team Leader-themed events that anchor the back half of Memories in Motion. The Blanche showcase runs through Monday, June 1, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time, giving players just under a week to chase a Field Research lineup, an Incense rotation, and a free GO Pass progression track built specifically around the leader of Team Mystic and her water-and-ice-leaning team identity.
The shape of the event is research-forward rather than raid-driven. Field Research tasks dropped at PokeStops during the window can reward encounters with one of twelve Pokemon: Squirtle, Alolan Vulpix, Krabby, Cubone, Horsea, Staryu, Lapras, Larvitar, Sableye, Cubchoo, Sinistea, and Tandemaus. Wild spawns lean heavily into Squirtle, Alolan Vulpix, Krabby, Staryu, and Galarian Zigzagoon, with rarer encounters surfacing Lapras, Vaporeon, and Larvitar at lower rates across the seven-day window.
GO Pass: Blanche's Quest for Knowledge
The headline feature for engagement is a free GO Pass track that auto-grants to every trainer at 10:00 a.m. on launch day. The Pass uses the now-standard Memories in Motion progression layout: complete Pass Tasks during the event window, accumulate GO Points, and rank up to unlock cosmetic and encounter rewards themed around Blanche and Team Mystic. A daily cap normally restricts how many GO Points you can collect in a single day, but Niantic is loosening that for the final stretch - from Saturday, May 30 at 12:00 a.m. through Monday, June 1 at 7:59 p.m. local time, there's no daily limit, letting committed grinders push to the top tiers if they front-load tasks in the early days and clean up late.
The most notable cosmetic in the Pass rewards lineup is a costumed Lapras, returning to Pokemon GO with a Blanche-themed accessory and a background framed in Team Mystic blue. That costumed Lapras can be unlocked through the GO Pass and is shiny-eligible, joining the small but growing roster of Team Leader-flagged regional Pokemon that have rolled out across Memories in Motion. Larvitar gets a particularly aggressive Incense bias during the event, with Niantic confirming it as one of eight species drawn to active Incense alongside Cubone, Horsea, Lapras, Vaporeon, Sableye, Clamperl, and Cubchoo - all shiny-available.
The Pokemon GO Fest 2026 Tokyo tie-in
Blanche's Quest is the second of three Team Leader showcases anchoring the road into Pokemon GO Fest 2026: Tokyo, the City Experience event that opened May 25 with Shiny Wash Rotom and the long-running Mega Mewtwo runway. The three Team Leaders - Blanche, Spark, and Candela - each get a dedicated quest event during the Memories in Motion season, with rewards that thread into the broader anniversary celebration Niantic has been building toward all year. Blanche's event is the water-and-ice-coded entry, with Spark's lightning-themed showcase confirmed for a future window and Candela's fire-leaning quest still to be officially dated.
Trainers participating in the City Experience in Tokyo will see the Blanche overlays integrate directly into the in-person event, with location-bound encounter boosts and themed photo-disc rewards. For everyone else playing globally, the same Field Research, Incense, and GO Pass progression are live worldwide, with the standard local-time staggering applied. The event ends at 8:00 p.m. local on June 1, with the GO Pass progression closing at 7:59 p.m. that same day - and the Spark showcase expected to roll into a similar slot later in the season.
