One of the standout moments of The MIX Summer Game Showcase 2026 was the return of an Indian indie darling. Nodding Heads Games, the Pune-based studio behind 2020’s Raji: An Ancient Epic, debuted a lengthy cinematic gameplay trailer for its sequel, Raji: Kaliyuga — and it looks like a dramatic leap in scale and ambition.
Set six years after the great war of the original, Kaliyuga picks up as destiny bleeds into prophecy and the line between gods and mortals blurs. The demon king Mahabalasura tears open the gates of heaven and unleashes Kaliyuga — an age of darkness in which, the studio says, “every choice can unmake the universe.”
Two heroes, two playstyles
The headline change is that you no longer play as Raji alone. Kaliyuga introduces dual protagonists: Raji, the warrior of faith, returns with acrobatic, martial-arts-driven combat and her signature Trishul, while newcomer Darsh, a dreamwalker, wields immense Siddhi powers that bend gravity, time and energy. The pair switch based on story events and act as companions to one another, hinting at puzzles and encounters built around their contrasting abilities.
Hand-crafted Indian mythology, scaled up
The original Raji won a devoted following with its gorgeous use of Indian and Balinese art, painted backdrops and narration steeped in Hindu mythology. Kaliyuga doubles down on that identity with grander temples, more cinematic staging and a darker, apocalyptic tone, while keeping the series’ striking visual signature firmly intact.
Where and when can you play it?
Raji: Kaliyuga is confirmed for PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Nodding Heads stopped short of announcing a release window or price during the showcase, so for now wishlisting is the only way to stake your claim — but on the strength of this trailer, plenty of players will.
A sequel worth watching
Five years on from a debut that punched well above its weight, Nodding Heads is swinging for something bigger. If Kaliyuga can match its cinematic ambition with the combat depth its two-hero hook promises, it could be one of the more distinctive action-adventures on the horizon.
