Team17 and Swedish five-person studio Wych Elm used The MIX Summer Game Showcase 2026 to lock in a release date for their hand-painted nightmare. Silver Pines, a Lynchian survival-horror Metroidvania, arrives on October 8, 2026 — and a PC demo is available to play right now.
Drenched in Twin Peaks atmosphere, Silver Pines follows private investigator Red Walker, who arrives in the rundown, seemingly abandoned American town of the same name while chasing answers. A phone call points him toward a single objective: find a man named Eddie Velvet — and the deeper Red digs, the stranger and more dangerous the town becomes.
Rotoscoped horror, Metroidvania bones
The game’s most arresting feature is its look. Hand-painted environments and rotoscope-animated characters give Silver Pines an eerie, hand-drawn quality that recalls classic animated noir. Beneath that surface sits a proper Metroidvania: an interconnected map, locked routes that open as you gain new tools, and a slow drip of secrets to uncover.
Mystery, action and relentless dread
The latest trailer leans into the trio of mystery, action and relentless horror that defines the experience. Expect tense combat, scarce resources and an oppressive sense that something is deeply wrong with Silver Pines — the kind of slow-burn dread that rewards players willing to map every shadowed corner of town.
Platforms, demo and date
Silver Pines launches October 8, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. If you can’t wait until October, the Steam demo is live now — a perfect way to sample the mood before committing.
Mark your calendar
Between its singular art style and its Twin-Peaks-by-way-of-Metroidvania premise, Silver Pines has quietly become one of the most distinctive horror games on the autumn calendar. Wych Elm and Team17 have set the date — now it’s a matter of surviving the trip.
