Wuthering Waves Version 3.6 - Lamplight in Mirage, Sword's Resolve in Heart - went live today after maintenance, bringing a new region, two new five-star Resonators across two phases, and a performance change Kuro Games is quantifying out loud rather than burying in a patch note.
The update landed at 11:00 (UTC+8) on August 20, which is 03:00 UTC - the usual overnight slot for anyone outside Asia. Maintenance started roughly seven hours earlier. The version runs for 42 days, through September 30, which is a longer patch cycle than the game's early cadence and gives both banner phases room to breathe.
Qingxiao first, Jingran second
Phase 1 runs from today until September 10 and is headlined by Qingxiao, a five-star Aero sword main DPS, alongside a rerun for Denia. The accompanying weapon banner pairs the new five-star sword Glint of Clouds with a rerun of Forged Dwarf Star.

Phase 2 opens September 10 and runs to September 29, introducing Jingran with reruns for Hiyuki and Mornye. Its weapon banner carries the new five-star broadblade Thousandfold Deliverance plus Frostburn and Starfield Calibrator. Two new characters and four reruns across six weeks is a generous spread by the game's own standards, and it means pull planning this cycle is a real decision rather than a formality.
Ren Realm, and the story it services
The new area is Ren Realm, described as a secluded region high above the point where the Cloud Shuttle Fleet passes Emerald Peaks. It arrives with two story beats: Chapter 4 Act 3, Song of the Heart Sword, and a segue chapter titled The Nethermancer's Requiem. New enemies and Echoes come with it - Skywatch Lancer, Jade Nether Serpent and Calamity Effigy - along with a Tactical Hologram fight, Myriad Snare: Rustfire Chassis.
Six events run over the version, including Resonance Sim Realm and The Strings Remember, a music-based mode that fits the version's sword-and-instrument framing rather than sitting off to one side as a minigame.
The quality-of-life list is the interesting part
Buried under the character reveals is a change with more day-to-day weight than either banner. Kuro says it has switched programming languages in part of the game and is claiming roughly 10 additional FPS across platforms as a result. For a phone-first open-world game where thermal throttling decides whether a boss fight is playable in the back half, a named, specific figure is unusual - most studios say optimisations and leave it there.
The rest of the housekeeping is the sort of thing long-term players have been asking for: mail capacity raised to 200 slots with save functionality, refined Echo recommendations, better autopilot routing, expanded screenshot sharing, and themed motorbike backgrounds. None of it is headline material and all of it reduces friction in the parts of the game you touch daily.
Free pulls, briefly
Three livestream redemption codes went out with the August 7 preview broadcast, each carrying Astrite, upgrade materials and Shell Credits. Codes from a preview stream are always short-lived, so if you skipped the broadcast and are only logging in for the new version today, that is the first thing to check before it expires.
Wuthering Waves is free-to-play on iOS, Android, PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Version 3.6 is live now and runs through September 30.
