Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Locks In an August 25 Launch

Cold Iron's co-op Xenomorph shooter gets a hard date: August 25, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Epic. The fireteam grows to four Marines, with deeper classes, tougher swarms and a return to Engineer locations - current-gen only.

The wait to drop back into the swarm is nearly over. Cold Iron and publisher Daybreak Game Company have confirmed a hard release date for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2: the co-op shooter storms onto PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store on August 25, 2026. After the sequel was first revealed earlier this year with only a vague “summer” window, that date finally nails things down.

The original Aliens: Fireteam Elite launched in 2021 and built a devoted following as a three-player, class-based horde shooter set in the Aliens universe. The sequel's headline change is a simple but meaningful one: the fireteam grows from three Marines to four, and the encounter design has been rebuilt around that extra body.

Deeper squads, meaner swarms

A fourth slot isn't just one more gun. Cold Iron is leaning into deeper squad mechanics, new and revised classes, and enemy waves tuned to reward coordinated team compositions rather than four players simply blasting in the same direction. Expect the Xenomorph swarms to press harder and demand tighter crowd control, chokepoint discipline and role synergy.

The sequel also promises a return to Engineer locations — the eerie, biomechanical spaces tied to the franchise's deeper lore — alongside new enemy types teased in the reveal footage. It's a clear signal that Fireteam Elite 2 wants to expand the first game's bug-hunt fantasy rather than simply reskin it.

A current-gen-only affair

One notable detail: there are no PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions planned. Fireteam Elite 2 is a current-generation and PC release, which should let Cold Iron push the fidelity, enemy counts and squad systems further than the cross-gen original allowed.

Whether you're a returning Marine or a newcomer drawn in by the four-player hook, the countdown is set. Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 deploys August 25, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Epic.
